Nice price, the Xbox 360 version has been getting some great reviews and seems like the one to pick up!
#3
Just to confirm, dont even think about buying this on the PS3, that version is supposedly awful, yet the 360 version is fantastic....

I'm glad i have a ps3 & 360 :-D, Definately getting this game on the 360.

I read loads of reviews that say the ps3 is inferior to the 360 version but still on metacritic it is 90 so cant be that bad for the ps3 owners

The PS3 version is most certainly not awful. It's the framerate issues that are the primary issue, but only when comparing to the Xbox 360 version. The PS3 game looks and plays great, and you will only notice minor differences if you compare them both. The issues/differences are only noticeable when comparing or if you are a total framerate geek, so if you have one of either the PS3 or Xbox, you won't be disappointed. However, if you have both consoles, and want the better version, go for the Xbox 360 version as the framerate is higher.

I have seen reviews ever so slightly lesser on PS3 than Xbox, only because they are being compared. Fantastic game on both consoles.

I have both an Xbox 360 & a PS3 console but I didn't see the attraction in the game at all so even £20 couldn't attract me to either version (frame rate differences or no frame rate differences). If it played as well as the numerous trailer videos then I would have bought it without question, but the Japanese Playable Demo I tried just did not keep me entertained at all. I just thought it was very generic game-play with just a different lead character (who was designed to simply titillate a teenage male audience or those who should know better).

On paper (or screen) the formula should have something for most gamers... sexy innuendo-a-plenty witch... bespoke weapons (including her own hair!)... fighting/shooter/puzzle/action-adventure... successful development/design/publisher team, but it just fell flat for me whilst I was playing. I even downloaded the English Playable Demo when that became available just in case the on-screen text something was subconsciously detracting from any enjoyment, but it did not change my opinion :(

Mind you, not an unsurprising conclusion as I didn't understand the fuss about the "Devil May Cry" series either (although I do like the [later] titles in the "Resident Evil" franchise). I bought the first three "Devil May Cry" titles for the PS2 at the same time and without trying then played the PS3 Demo. I still haven't tried the PS2 games as the whole environment was just a huge disappointment. I know I'm probably in the minority in this viewpoint, but if certain news articles out of Japan are to be believed even their own local games developers are getting bored of the Japanese style of game design too.

Am I the only one to find "Bayonetta" uninteresting?

I'd be happy with £24.99, but neither price is unrealistic. This game is hardly going to have mass market appeal with UK audiences and should fall swiftly.

I just hope Sega don't start moaning in the trade press, that despite critical acclaim Bayonetta did not sell. I could have told them that months ago :p

As far as demos go for NOT being any indication of what the real game is like, this game's demo is a tragedy.

As someone who has played and finished this game, I can safely say this is the BEST ACTION GAME I HAVE EVER PAYED, in fact it is being rated very highly by almost all the reputable publications for a reason.

At this price bayonetta is a steal. It is by far the only true next gen game I have played so far. In fact in this generation of consoles bayonetta is probably in the top three games thus far. I have never seen anything like it before.

From the remix title theme of the Sinatra song to the beautiful graphics, mind bending powers, smooth as butter gameplay, bayonetta is pure polish and pure class.

(I didn't even make the game and look how I am pimping it).

Did you play it on Xbox or PS3?

I really like the game from playing the demo! As well as all the images and videos at Gamespot.com. The only thing I don't like is the random Japanese pop music, spoils that atmosphere/style of the game for me, so out of place!
#12
Does anyone know what version of 'In For The Kill' they use on the ad for this?
#13
I decided not to preorder this despite the fact I really want it. Hoping for a sub £30 price on launch at a supermarket or something (although doubtful :().

If the preorder bonuses were actually good, not just some tatty gun or a useless art book I may have gone for it. I wish more games came with exclusive preorder faceplates for the 360 like they used to!

Skream remix.

I was at Eurogamer expo and totally overlooked this as another Japanese ninja gaiden style, game. playing the demo wish I never now, it's pretty sick.

Xbox 360 version. Absolutely perfect. Great outrageous storyline, fantastic weapons, wonderful gameplay.

Please get the 360 version as it is purported to be FAR superior to the ps3 version. Especially for a game like this where a 100 objects are doing 10 different things on screen at any given time, you need a version which runs at 60fps....and the 360 one is it.

I'm usually a PS3-only fan and I keep the Xbox attatched to the smaller bedroom TV. But I think you've just convinced me not to swap around, but to move the Xbox to the big TV with the PS3 and buy this on the 360!
#18
Have only just started playing this one on the 360 its like ninja gaiden, devil may cry plus a shed load more......So much is going on in this game from simple to complex combos.

Must of been a bad port for ps3.

Sites such as IGN also show that the PS3 version prompts the game to load for a few seconds when you do simple things such as picking up items etc, which is an annoyance, as well as the 360 having much sharper textures and more detailed graphics. One of the main reasons why IGN gave the PS3 version 8.3 and the 360 version 9.5.

It wont make much difference unless you have both consoles really, in which case you'd get the 360 version.

I'm still trying to figure out how after so many years the PS3 has been out that 3rd party developers still suck at dealing with the hardware. Fair enough in the gaming market Microsoft has a huge advantage over Sony, but if developers dont put as much effort into the PS3 counterparts of games then why make them in the first place.

Sorry, im rambling :whistling:
#20
Even Sega have said they will "fix" the PS3 version as it wasn't acceptable. Not sure what they plan to do though.

The PS3 demo is playable (it's not that bad) but the 360 version looks and plays far better.
#21
I don't really play games much these days, but I downloaded the demo from the PSN store for my PS3 and was pleasently surprised. The game is quite fun and has a great unusual visual/audio style.

I might pick this up for my Xbox 360, as I hear it's probably the best version, though the PS3 version I'd say, judging from the demo is just as playable.

Differences between PS3 ports of Xbox360 games are usually minute and negligible, so unless you have a lot of time on your hands comparing differences between the same game I wouldn't worry too much about it.

This is one of the fastest paced games out there, with dozens of things going on on-screen. The 360 version is locked at 60FPS, the PS3 version suffers from slowdown and an overall poor average frame rate. And that's without mentioning graphical performance. This isn't minute or negligible, it's a pretty big difference which directly effects how well the game plays. Just look at some reviews.

I see where you're coming from, but my point is is it so bad that the PS3 version is not playable at all.

If the frame rate was incredibly bad to a point that your buttom presses didn't react fast enough or the game slowed down to an absolute hault, I could understand the fuss.

I think some people just want to pick up a game and play it without thinking too much.
#25
Just downloading the demo now to see what all the fuss is about, I saw a video clip and the main character looked like Harry Potter in drag for some reason.

The demo plays a lot better, as its reading the data from the hard drive, not a disc. The actual game has constant load times whenever you perform actions on screen.

Also, Bayonetta was originally made for the Xbox 360, and later ported to the PS3, and in my eyes, all ports should be avoided, unless its something like Sonic Adventure from Dreamcast to Gamecube :santa:

Here's a comparison video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp1ZnoIZI8c it's really not too bad i'm sure sega will eventually release a patch for it. Heat added tho! Love SLASH AND DASH GAMES!!!!!

Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bM8hbeMzrZQ&NR=1<---shows the comaprison a bit better. Xbox version does look better.

I think most of us have been playing games since before then, and agree that this is a pretty damn good game.

I think "Rocket Raid" on the BBC B was my first home game, but had played many arcade machines before that.

I was under the impression that trials/demos were to give the public an indication of what to expect in the full version of the same game rather than produce the worst possible example of an aspect of the game-play so that it would not be any incentive at all to make a purchase.

It seems that some of us who were playing video games in the early 70s have differing opinions of what makes a "good" video game.

Personally I thought "Quake" was a step backwards from most of the "DOOM" franchise titles (and "Wolfenstein 3D"/"Spear of Destiny" I have on many different platforms as I still find something to enjoy in one of the initial "first person shooter" titles that has influenced an entire generation (or two) since). But I think we are straying for the point now :)
