This is a superb camera and shoots good enough video for amateur broadcasters e.g. youtube series etc.

If you're prepared to spend this much on a cam there are some reasonable assumptions:

1. you aren't shy of a penny or two so purchases quality lenses aren't an issue
2. you know about cameras and why kit lenses are never enough

Hope this helps someone.

In general we should make our big electrical purchases in 2016 before price increases because of our currency depreciation

With fast hybrid autofocus, haha
Don't forget to buy 3 additional batteries and decent lens with f2.8 for £1800.

There's still the new year sales and this would or will be an outgoing model. You're probably right about price rises but the timescale is not set for the end of 2016.

not really, the sel35f28 has amazing reviews and has Zeiss glass and I've seen it as cheap at £350 for an open boxed one. What kind of lens were you thinking about?

That's a good investment as cameras are now starting to pop up with 50+ true MP so you'll need "digital lenses". This is for a serious Nat Geo photographer, nice to know people on the forum know about cameras :)

Not sure about how much the price for A7II will increase in 2017, but I am pretty sure A7III will be released in 2017 and mostly will include a touch screen like A6500!

It's good investment for travel photography. The 35f2.8 have some focus issues. Better to buy Canon 6d and Tamron 24-70 if you want to spend £1199.

Would love one but pretty hard to justify for casual photographers. Prices on all Sony cameras have been going up over the last 12 months which means I will be sticking with my A6000 (£280 open box last December). Not going to see that much improvement and I would have to splurge a tonne of cash on FF lenses too.

However, a good deal for anyone wanting to upgrade from an earlier A7 model.

I don't think the kit lens is worth the extra £350, though as far as kit lenses go it's quite impressive.

Do we know for sure prices are increasing again?

All signs on sony alpha rumours say so

Kit lens is worth £70-£100 max. That's how much they go for on the open market. I sold mine a few years ago. Should have kept it really, as it wasn't all that bad.

Totally agree the glass is actually not that bad and tests have proved it but the plastic body lets it down.

Great idea, a freebie that's actually something everyone getting the camera should be buying regardless.

£280 for A6000 last year?! That's mad!
