I can't find this unt for less than £100 anywhere, so at £59 this has to be a bargain- see more info

Becker, a leading OEM manufacturer of Sat Nav systems, has extended their product portfolio and launched the Traffic Assist 'High Speed'', a navigation system that combines outstanding mobility, touchscreen operation and street level detailed mapping 37 European countries. The unit is a step up from the previous Traffic Assist, featuring a faster processor and full postcode search.

Pan-European Freedom
The device is supplied with comprehensive street-level mapping data for 37 countries 'in the box'. Each country also contains an extensive array of special destinations such as service areas, hotels and petrol stations, which are shown on the map.

Becker Traffic Assist comes with an integrated 'Specially sensitive' SIRF III GPS receiver. Another part of the equipment package is the GPS aerial, which can be unfolded in areas of poor satellite reception. The device does not require a speedometer signal. It is simply and quickly mounted on the windscreen or dashboard, using the mounting set supplied with the product. The viewing angle can be adjusted to any position.

Becker Traffic Assist 'High Speed' Windscreen Mount

Postcode Search
The 'High Speed' comes complete with a FULL postcode search facility, making entering a route a lot quicker and simpler for the user. Simply type in your postcode, and the system will calculate the route down to the specific road.

Independence
Two standard rechargeable batteries provide independence of car electrics and allow navigation in car-free town centres. The batteries are charged automatically as soon as the device is connected to the car's cigarette lighter and last upto approx. 3-4 hours.

Operation of the Becker Traffic Assist 'High Speed' is as easy as it can get. Simply press a button and the start menu offers four large touch screens on the best-in-class Low-reflection 3.5-inch TFT touchscreen display (see below); for navigation, music, images, and settings. Each of these touch-sensitive fields leads to further control and setting options clearly assigned to the respective function and screen display.

Dimensions in mm (W x H x D): 127 x 81.2 x 30

Easy Navigation
Under "Navigation", for instance, you will find a large, full-screen "logic speller" for entering your destination. Once you have entered the postcode or town, the display only shows the letters for the streets that are inside that town or if you entered a postcode it will bring up the road name and give you the option for entering a house number, it couldn't be easier!

Another remarkable feature of the Becker Traffic Assist 'High Speed' is the quick call-up of the 50 most recent destinations, or a list personal favourites - for example Home, Office or Bob's House.

Not Sure of The Speed Limit - No Problem
Uniquely, the Becker Traffic Assist 'High Speed' will even show you the speed limit on around 90% of the UK roads. It won't warn when you are exceeding it, but it'll tell you what it is.

Best-In-Class Colour TFT Screen
Using the latest touchscreen technology, destination guidance by Becker Traffic Assist 'High Speed' is carried out in a brilliant 3D or, optionally, 2D map display. The colour scheme is modern and unobtrusive for optimal readability. The system will even automatically zoom in and zoom out at junctions.

MP3 and Picture Viewer
Additionally, the unit features an integrated MP3/WMA player for listening to music stored on the SD card, using headphones, due to the NEW high speed processor the Traffic Assist will now allow you to listen to music whilst navigating. A picture viewer allows displaying photos stored as jpg files, making it compatible with most digital cameras. Large touch screens offer further setting options for both these functions.

Countries included on the Becker Traffic Assist 'High Speed' as standard:

Austria, Albania, Andorra, Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece (the Athens area), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Macedonia, Monaco, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Serbia-Montenegro, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Sweden, UK, Vatican City

#7
2 gig card not one gig.Excellent price ,but is this available at all larger tesco stores?
#8
Great find! Just got one.

Is the Becker(Navigon) software just 5 digit postcode? Maps will be a couple of years old.
This is windows CE 4.2 so you can put Tomtom or Miomap/Igo on it.

Don't buy this thinking it is better than TomTom. I bought it when this thread was around...

http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/131078/becker-traffic-assist-7934-sat-nav-/

It couldn't even get the location of my house correct and one my first trip out it took me at least 3 miles from where I should have been. The TomTom is spot on and gets my house correct. My advice is don't buy it for the quality of maps - they are not good and you can't upgrade to the newer maps without paying.

You can however, put MioMap on it - that is worth it. Maybe you can put TomTom on it.... but in the end I bought a NaviGo from Ebuyer. On the plus side it was a solid piece of kit and came with mains charger etc.... and you can take it back to Tesco for full refund if you are not happy with it - which I did.

Not a bad deal, however it’s a bit misleading calling it “traffic assist” when it doesn’t actually have any Traffic alert capabilities.
#18
I know nothing about these - and only started looking today.

Can it reroute you if it is aware of traffic congestion ahead on your route?

Could it be set up to avoid toll roads if driving in mainland Europe (or Birmingham!).

It dosent have TMC on it so it wont know if there is a traffic jam ahead you should be able to manually re-route as for missing the tolls in Europe I'm really not sure

To answer the question about an option to avoid toll roads.
I found this in the attached link

· Alternative route calculation mode: shortest/fastest route, with/without motorways, with/without toll roads, with/without ferries,

One of the most informative post's I have read.

So is it worth ordering it online or trying to find it in the store it tells you it will reserve it in for you? Its defo scanning at 59 if you go in store is it?
#24
Is this purely in-store for the £59.97 price or can it be ordered through Tesco Direct for the same price.

Is it only available in-store in the larger Tesco's. Dont want a wasted trip tomorrow.

Go in the store and get it for £59 as against £89 online, been using it today, fantastic piece of kit and a real steal at £59, no problems at all with it, took me to every destination without a problem.

Also has MP3, checked out pricerunner and the normal range
for this sat nav is £115- £149.

Thanks.

So TMC is a good thing to look out for and interactively manages rerouting on traffic - what else would you recommend?

It's a full 8 digit postcode

8 digit, I think we had this discussion on the Navgo sat system from Ebuyer which I purchased updated with TOMTOM but have as yet not found any postcode with 8 Digits?..

Either way nice find for the price, Like I said I purchased the NAVGO from Ebuyer which I found to do the trick but takes a couple of mins to logon to a Sat. I guess all these SatNavs are pretty simliar with regards quality etc.

i have heard a lot of bad reviews for this model, but for the price voted hot

N Ireland - yes, is it good- well I thought it was brilliant today
#33
ALL
I had a play with one of these and was unable to get Tomtom working on the unit after several hours of playing the CE does not seem to let the Tomtom run he screen just freezes.
The Postcode search is not as good as Tomtom.
The Navigo Sat Nav was a great price as Tomtom was straight forward to put on and very stable
Just my views
#34
Doesn't N. Ireland only have about a dozen roads?:)
#35
hmm seems that whilst it being an awesome price

it will end up causing you more hassle, i'll pass,.
#36
Voted Hot. As long as it gets me from A to B and isn't too expensive. had tomtom before it got stolen ¬_¬.

Thanks for the deal

Exactly my thoughts !, A to B no problems, music on MP3 as an added bonus all for £59, I couldn't wait to hand over the money, went home and cancelled order for Tomtom.
#38
I have one of these and it is great. I especially like the fact that I can play my music while it directs me! It pauses the music to give you a direction. If you can plug things with a headphone socket into you car so it comes out through the speakers (as I can) then this is an even better feature. I have used tomtom but personally prefer this.
#39
Possible limited to a few Tesco stores, this was showing on display at Bury grtr manchester with no model on display but the price tag showing £59.99 DISCONTINUED.

Which means they no longer sell this.

As sat navs go be carefull most if not all are not really that good for one reason or another, and that goes for the tomtom too. I think they are usefull but the technology for reliability is not there at this time.

Just been out on the road again, reliability and accuracy was SPOT ON, also had the MP3 player working and the cuts away when instructions are given.

For £59 it has to be 10/10
