Thanks! Just picked mine up!

Weighs just over 18kg so make sure your car is parked nearby.

You don't really want to be carrying it for about 20 minutes to your car, that's for sure... :whistling:

A bit on the narrow side, i'd say.

I have this one from staples (£29.99).
Delivery is free if you spend over £30 which means you would need to add something to your order to get it over (I added a ruler).

i using an argos desk the quality is very poor. keyboard drawer is hanging off and the covering is just paper on top of chipboard, so all you need is tape to stick on it and it pulls away the covering. Its only a year old.
I have one which i purchased in morrisons and its much better, would go elsewhere for a desk there are plenty of people who sell them.

So how does that differ from the majority of flat pack furniture then?

If it is anything like the pine finish one (very similar slightly bigger cost £25) that I bought for my daughters room 3 weeks ago, dont bother!!
It was broken first time round, the after having to travel an hour for a replacement (because the stupid bloke in our local store dropped the last one & broke that!!) when fixing the top onto the sides the dowels came out through the top of the desk! (LOL was funny, should have seen DH's face!) so we had to glue the liuttle bits of wood (if you can call it wood) back in.
keyboard shelf ill only pull out if pulled at an angle, and just noticed today that the paperlike surface is beginning to wear off leaving white marks where the mouse sits!!

I am trying to find another to replace the useless one i got in argos 3 weeks ago, but cant seem to find a small one anywhere. This one will do for now, but as soon as something better comes along it will be binned, not even worth complaining, been there done that before with a sofa bed, and after 6 phone calls & some letters, gave up.

This will do me, perfect for under a tenner. I find if you buy some wood glue and glue all the parts together as well, then it lasts a lot longer.

This is £14.99 from Argos and looks good with most PC equipment. Pretty robust too as it's made of metal:thumbsup:

For under a tenner you can't go wrong. OK, so the quality isn't going to be that of Ercol and it definatley won't be like a piece of chippendale, but it will do the job nicely. Voted Hot. Nice find once again Edi.

I know flat pack isn't always of the best quality, but to be honest, and not to be disrespectful, it just kind of sounds like you didn't assemble it properly or with care.

Having assembled my fair share of flat packed items of varying quality I find that sometimes they are not manufactured correctly and they get through the quality control somehow.

So this could have also been one of those instances.

I have just put loads of modular storage from Ikea - for flat pack stuff they are easily the best...always fits, holes always in the right place and always the right screws, etc.......just pray you dont have to take anything back as its a nightmare (had one incorrect item). Prices are good, though the moduar stuff is more exp

Sure hardwood is much better but VERY expensive....my 12ftx6ft office cost about £600 with Ikea modular stuff, for worse quality and LESS stuff at MFI it was £1500 - not fitted(for laminate chipboard, have a laugh!!)!!

and I didnt bother asking Sharpes after their ridiculous quote of £7000 for 2 3 ft wide bedroom cabinets and 3 3feet wide drawers!

i said that to dh, the dowels on one side didnt go down into the toles as fars as they shouldn have done, holes not deep enough,he had to drill down to make the holes deeper so that the dowels would go down, he should have noticed but didnt, but then should have been made right in the first place.
And not putting it together right doesnt accounf for why after 3 weeks the paperlike surface is wearing off, and my DD has hardly used it!

I totally agree we have also put together loads of flat pack stuff, usually ikea but couldnt get a desk in the right size (needed to fit in small space) or colour (DD wanted pine) we had to settle for what we could get, would happily have paid more to get the right thing but sadly couldnt find aything anywhere

Any suggestions??

I've got a big Dell tower on mine, sitting on the bottom shelf and it's fine - what on earth are you trying to stick in there?:?

Just built ours up.
Fine, no problems. Very easy to put together.

The lass in the store on collection said 'it wouldn't fit in a bag, would I be ok?'. Jesus, its a 19KG flat pack, clearly it won't fit in a carrier!

This is way too narrow. Look how much room you have for mouse movement!
