I've been picking up a few of these Thompson & Morgan deals that have been posted on HUKD over the past weeks.

Today's delivery included Busy Lizzie 'Apricot Butterfly' miniplugs that were in pretty poor condition; 90% of the leaves were yellow and there were quite a few mildewy leaves in the box too. The roots of the plants had grown into the plugs of adjacent plants so that it was very difficult getting them all apart without causing damage.

I wonder if T&M have let some of their end of season stock 'go to seed' a bit.

I should emphasise that the Begonia 'Apricot Shades' I got a week or so ago were in excellent condition, as were the nicotiana and geraniums.

I took photos of the plants that arrived today and if they don't pull through I guess I will have to contact T&M and seek a refund.

Some might ask the question "what do you expect at these prices?". I agree with that to an extent, but T&M didn't actually say they were selling substandard stock so I think one can reasonably expect the plants to be in just as good condition as if they were purchased at full price.

Best of luck growing them on and planting them, with the previous offers I had 84 miniplugs.

It has taken me quite some time to pot them up to bring them on. I have a tip, although probably everyone knows this and I am the last to work it out, but, homebase gives away the trays that small pots are delivered in. 18 to the tray. I fill these with compost and they are just the right size to get these miniplugs to a robust size for planting out. Saves quids on pots.
