Russell Tovey plays the lovable George, battling with his double identity as a mild-mannered and geeky hospital porter who for one night a month is transformed into a flesh-hungry, predatory werewolf.

Aidan Turner plays the good-looking and laid-back Mitchell who, in contrast to George, has the gift of the gab and an easy confidence with the ladies. But he is also a blood-sucking vampire struggling with going cold-turkey from the blood he craves.

Completing the flat-share trio is Annie, played by Lenora Crichlow, a talkative ghost

Didn't know that.

Tis just what I have read from other deals when posted. Just thought others may need to look into it before going ahead and buying.

OK; I'm gonna look lame here; I've never seen this; one of those things that I wish I had got round to watching but haven't yet. Is it any good?

You could never look lame to me - your deals are the reason I spend so much money!

I missed this too when it was on TV but rented it from Lovefilm during a free trial (in the good ol' days!) I loved it & there is a new series starting in the New Year so a good time to catch up on the first!

I really enjoyed it too-I have just bought it on blu ray for my eldest son as one of his christms pressies-I would definitely recommend it.:)

Excellent series, not what i expected at all.
I think Near Dark is a brilliant film for the same reason i liked this. Understated playing of the characters, they are what they are and it isn't rammed down your throat.

Thanks for this

I didn't watch this first time round because the tag line (a ghost, werewolf and vampire all living together) sounded daft. But I was pleasently surprised when I finally watched it. It's a great show with very likeable characters and not at all what I thought it would be.

Great price for gem of a tv program.

Great series...but...

1. BBC forgot to licence the TV broadcast sound-track

2. This boxset does not include the pilot...so its like looking at episodes 2-7...

I'm going to wait until they release the combined series 1 and 2 BD boxset...if they ever do and hope the pilot is on that...

That's because the pilot features different actors and you don't miss anything by not seeing it.

I think you do...the 'first' episode refers to events in the pilot...
