I see it has a 15-pin PC input.
Could be great as a dual purpose monitor / TV.
Amyone any idea what it would be like as a PC monitor?

Ive been to Beko's head office & Showroom in Watford and around their spares warehouse.

All their finished product come in to Birmingham by freight train to their Coleshill Depot. All their appliances are made by Arcelik (yes I know thats what the are called) in Turkey, I don't know where their TV's are made probably by Vestel in Turkey also only went to look at their appliances that day.

All their appliances are pretty cheap TBH wasnt to impressed with their company structure and fancy putting their show room on the first floor ? ****** carrying all them cookers upstairs !?!

Seen this this model there and looked fine was nice and bright but all their models look very plasticy and cheap which is their market share anyway, think they have cut back a bit to what they use to do though.

Their refurbs are done by Agents not in-house so be wary of components used, should last you the 12 months though.

thinking of going for this instead of the £99 vistron. Worried slightly as there are no reviews anywhere online. Can anyone post their experiences of the tv?

1280 x 768, not 1024. 1024 would look horribly stretched out. Although, either way, it's a lousy res for a screen so large. Setting my 1680*1050 22" monitor to that res makes everything seem so disproportionately massive and low-res that it feels like using Windows with a 1.5x zoom on. Not one to buy if you want to use it as a monitor, this.

will this be ok to connect an xbox 360 up via VGA??

or will my 22" fujitsu siemens monitor be better (the one that i got from insight)

dont try to `convince the wife`...`beat the wife` instead

If you want a monitor, 22inch monitors aren't that much more. Plus the 400:1 contrast ratio on this TV is very poor. I have family that have a similar spec TV by another company and even my Grandma noticed the poor video quality. So I personally wouldn't recommend it.

I bought one of these in August 2007.

Prior to this I had always had good experiences with purchases from Microdirect.

Here is my wording which accompanied the SECOND return:

"This TV exhibits the exact same fault as the first TV you sent, although now the fault is more intrusive and occurs even more frequently:

The picture suffers from intermittent but frequent image corruption - both on the built-in analogue tuner and via external SCART sources. The problem causes high contrast areas to be covered with red or green pixels - not just the odd pixel but large areas all over the screen (I have taken photos which I can email if required). The fault is easily reproducible - when switched on from cold the problem will always appear within the first two hours, usually even more frequently.

Altering the TV’s brightness/contrast/colour/sharpness/tint settings has no affect on the problem. Indeed if the colour is turned down to give a black & white picture, the red and green patches are still present. Turning off and on sometimes temporarily removes the problem, but it returns within an hour or two.

Having received two TVs with the same fault I can only assume this is a common problem of a BEKO batch.
From the "JWA Electronics Ltd" sticker on the back I assume this is the company purporting to carry out the "refurb", although all they appear to have done is clumsily rebox a faulty customer return.

As it is costing me £16 in postage each time I return these TVs, I do not wish to continue receiving similar replacements, hoping to eventually receive a working model. Hence my request this time for a refund rather than a replacement. "

Perhaps I bought at the wrong time, when a bad batch was being "passed off", but it left me very disappointed (I ended up buying a Humax 23" from a department store! - the BEKO/Microdirect experience cost me £41 in postage)

I was under the impression that, legally, the retailer is responsible for return postage when an item is faulty. Speak to their local Trading Standards office for advice.
#25
RTB guarantee can be expensive in courier fees unless you live near the supplier and can return the set yourself.

This does not apply to refurbished, only when you buy new.

Not true, unless the fault was pointed out when you purchased the item.

That looks pretty cool, as long as it works well as it's a refurb!!

Haha I never thought of it in that way!! It's actually pronounced Arr-chel-ik.

What kills this is the £110 HP 22" monitor elsewhere on HUD -- you can get an adaptor to run TV pictures through a monitor and you're good to go. Picture won't be any worse than this, about the same price, new and better reliability / PC performance.
#32
You'd need the FV box on top -- but IMO you'd be better off buying a Freeview recorder rather than a box anyway.

Remember that this Beko doesn't have freeview anyway.

Here's an example from Dealextreme -- I'm sure you can get them cheaper but only by about a fiver or so.

http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.11059

Good way of getting the cost of a combined TV/monitor right down IMO.

We bought this TV and have now used it for 2 weeks. The picture now deteriorates severely after 30 minutes of being switched on and all the colours fill with noise. Have contacted microdirect for a refund via email and am waiting for a reply. :-(
#34
got exactly the same issue with the screen on these - fine for a few weeks - then after 30 mins screen goes all multi coloured.
Emailed the company who refurbished these and they have 'heard' of it - seems to be a bad design flaw in a batch of these screens.
Sqones - did you get a refund ok from MD?
