Great price for a big capacity machine. Can't speak for Beko's spin cycles but I have a 1200rpm Bosch and the clothes come out as dry as my old 1400rpm Servis machine.

Best budget brand for washers - gave you heat.

The way to speak for the spin cycle is to look at the spin performance rating. It's been put in place to tell potential customers exactly what they need to know.

Hi all. This looks like a good deal. But is Beko actually a good / reliable brand? I've got a zanussi at the moment but it's about time I upgraded, any info/advice would be appreciated, Thanks , Jason

You're not buying a brand - you are buying a particular model of washing machine. Don't get hung up on brands.

We'd always used Zanussi or Hotpoint washing machines.

When our Hotpoint broke for good, we were a bit strapped for cash so went with this very similar Beko washing machine. It was around half the price of similar spec Hotpoint/Zanussi machines

http://www.beko.co.uk/9kg-1400rpm-washing-machine-wmb91442l-red-white

Almost 5 years on and it's still going strong and washing brilliantly. Its digital display tells us exactly how long a load will take and the eco washes have saved us a fortune on the electric bill too.

We've only had one Beko product so far, but we'll certainly buy more from them as other things give up!

Unless a specific model has recall warnings or problems with manufacture, I think it's okay to judge the brand's reputation as a whole.

UKWhiteGoods have this to say about Beko: http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/about-the-appliance-industry/manufacturer-information/2745-beko-domestic-appliances (updated June 2016).

As for the spin ratings - my Bosch (WAQ24461GB) 1200rpm is Spin Rating B, and the older Servis (M6804W) 1400rpm model I was comparing it to was also rated as Spin Rating B.

(Edit: This Beko WMB91233LW is also rated as Spin Rating B).

Thanks to the OP for this.
Old washing machine (Bosch) went poof in smoke and melted plastic (no idea WTF) a week ago, and been pondering what to go for, £200 BEKO from currys or pay twice the amount for a £400 LG with 5 year warranty. I was literally just minutes away from going down the road to Currys, with the probable intention of the LG one for £400. But this for £175, well.......... It was just too tempting at that price, only run them twice a week MAX, normally only once a week, so very little use compared to some... I bought a BEKO fridge freezer a year + ago and that's been perfect. Only thing was I placed order and then though.... DAMMIT I need old one taken away, but phoned up AO and all good, £14.99 to take old machine away, delivery on Tuesday, so all great.... Thanks again OP.

Take it into account, but don't use it as your only criterion. And too often, as illustrated here, people favour a brand for historical reasons. Washing machines of even 10 years ago bear little resemblance to today's, and brands are simply intangible commodities that are bought and sold, to be slapped on products with no connection to them at all.

We changed everything over to BEKO after buying more expensive brands for them to fail wrong side of warranty . Oldest BEKO is a freezer in pantry at 19 years old. We are refitting kitchen next month and are ordering BEKO everything (integrated).

I research things to the n-th degree before I buy so I know this stuff. Sadly, many don't.

A lot of people still think Hoover and Hotpoint are the esteemed brands they were from the 1980s. But to be fair, all consumer electronics is going this way (think of Panasonic and their Vestel models, blah blah... :p).

As long as you do a little reading around before buying and don't blindly purchase, you'll be okay.

Can't disagree with that, but the posting directly above yours illustrates the problem yet again.

Any thoughts on this comapres to this 8KG Indesit that I was going to buy?
http://ao.com/product/ewd81482w-indesit-my-time-washing-machine-white-37193-1.aspx
Obviously capacity is bigger but spin speed not as high. I have a £30 off voucher for AO so the Indesit is £15 more...

We converted from Bosch to Beko when our washing machine gave up the ghost during our house extension. It proved to be so impressive that we've now ditched the rest of the bosch stuff and got a Beko tumble dryer and Beko dishwasher... The fridgefreezer is a samsung though.

Beko are seriously good value for money.

Skoda of the whitegoods world.

AO will take it away for free, if you choose the option not to take the old one away, they usually ring you to try and sell you the insurance, but as a sweetener, before they even start talking about the insurance, they'll offer to take it away for free. I've had this happen 4 times over the last year or so when buying my own appliances and appliances for elderly relatives.

Oh well, it's just 14.99 and I dare not take the risk. You may very well be right, and perhaps they might have called me, but the last thing I'd want to happen is stuck with the old one, as it's then £30 for the council to take it.

Just to remark on some posts here.
Whilst I do agree about brand stamping etc.
I think we would all agree if you went high end Mieke
https://www.miele.co.uk/domestic/washing-machines-1561.htm

And paid between £1200 to £2000 for a machine, we'd get something REALLY well build and designed.
10x the price for clean cloths is a hard sell.
I do like the Auto Liquid dispenser on those. Pity more normal makes don't do this.
Empty in a litre of liquid and it does the rest.

Just a shame that liquid detergents are bad for washing machines!

Liquid or Powder or Tablet or Pouch?
I've used them all over the years.................

I found out, my drain outside the kitchen was totally caked in 1" to 2" of white stuff which I spend an age cleaning off, Must have been powder residue that build up over the years.
I used those plastic pouches, but found bits of the gel pouch still hanging around after the wash.
So switched to a non-bi liquid from LIDL, Pour into the cap and place the cap on top of the laundry.
Only used the detergent drawer for conditioner.

pay some more and buy something decent like the LG currently on offer for £299 worth every single extra penny.

Actually they were correct, £299.99 from Argos here. However I agree, different price range still.

My current Beko is on its last legs after 6 years' use, at least 5 washes a week. Called up AO, mentioned this deal and they were happy to discount the £25 old appliance collection fee in lieu of the ebay discount here. Thanks OP. Hopefully will last another 6 years.
Cracking price for a 9kg machine. Heated.

not so amazing? it's a completely different class of build quality and reliability, what else you want to make it "amazing"?
I know it's £125 more but for that you get a reliable, good quality machine instead of a cheap, unreliable, clunky budget machine than can fall apart at anytime.

This LG is basic without extended warranty... don't you think they would give 5 years warranty if quality is so good ?

BEKO arrived today, not installed yet, prob wait till Saturday. Looks very nice. Much nicer quality door hinge and latch than on my old Bosch, clean, simply yet functional control, all seems very nicely put together, honestly for the price, it's amazing what you can get these days.
Extended warranty for 3 years total is half the price of the machine! so don't think I'll be taking that out.
Be interesting to see how it goes on it's 1st wash.
What detergent still seems up for debate. Powder, Tablets, Pouches or Liquid.

No call offering me insurance nor collection of my old machine though.

Thanks to the OP
