I thought it was worth mention. If you want to buy a cheap hub, you'll usually find unbranded USB 1.1 poorly made hubs. I think it's a steal for £1.66 (free postage with code FREESVP)

Perfect for travel, the Belkin Hi-Speed USB2.0 Thumb hub conveniently slips into the pocket of your laptop bag without taking up precious space. This mini hub provides the convenience of being able to connect up to two high-speed devices with no need for an external power supply, or up to four devices using the included switching power supply.

Features:
- Features compact, travel-friendly design
- Connects 2 high-speed devices without a power supply
- Connects up to 4 devices with included global-use switching power supply
- Includes USB extension cable
- Complies with OHCI, EHCI and USBIF standards
- Transfer speeds up to 480Mbps
- Operates with Plug-and-Play ease

It comes with a short usb extension cable, to take the weight off the computer's USB port.

I already own this one...

Poundland ones are only good for charging mobile phones or powering USB gadgets.

Can upgrade to 1st class recorded for free too? I went for the 1-4 days as I can't be bothered to sign for a £1.66 item :)
#12
How do you get it delivered for free? It charges me £3.03 ex VAT for roay mail delivery. Only other option is by courier which is even more expensive!

EDIT: sorry I did not read the OP properly. <-- hangs head in shame

I got a 7 port one from Aldi for £7.99.
#15
Excellent find.

Although this is (apparently) USB2 that doesn't mean you should overload your main USB sockets.

Some stuff is a massive drain on power and if you try and get 4 lots of heavy power out of one socket you'll end up with problems.
#17
Heat added - good spot.

Always nice to have a spare

Excellent deal, just ordered one - H&R added

Voted hot, just ordered one.....
Thanks

I've been having trouble with my new "Vista=crap" pc. I have a USB2 hub at the moment but Vista decides when it will recognise it and when it doesnt feel like it! Hopefully this one might work better (fingers crossed). Anyway only £1.66 to find out so its a no brainer!

Many thanks for the great find. Heat & rep!

Great find. Thanks:thumbsup:

Does this basically turn one usb port into two?

Anyway of hardwiring one of these into a broken usb port? Guess I'd better google it, just wondered if anyone had done anything similar with limited tech knowhow)

Which is precisely why this is a good buy, as it is a POWERED hub!

The only problem is SVP is not the company it once was :-(

How so?
#37
The poundland ones are only USB 1.1 so very slow, also not that responsive.
So this is HOT.
#38
Does this make 1.1 usb into 2.0 ones?
