They probably think it's a dupe and rather than read then decide, they are just voting cold. Not bothering to look the op has posted 2 different items.
Excellent cable, I was in town today, gutted.

One of the great cons going on at PC World, Dixons, Currys etc. Massively overpriced cables. Last time I was in Currys there was a printer cable more expensive than one of the printers right next to it.

Also, great deal, I love Belkin.
#15
These cables are very expensive. At £1 saying this is a steal is a understatement.
#16
It's not a 'printer lead'. Yes printers use them, but forget about printers. Many USB DACs use this sort of connection, including the Cambridge Audio DAC Magic. That's a use which makes much more sense for an expensive cable.

To be honest though, this isn't about analogue signals so there's no real arguement for an expensively made cable. A USB cable is just a USB cable, sending digital signals all the same. But at this price, we can afford to hedge our bets and make sure, even if it only brings a reassuring placebo effect.

So hot deal, will have a look tomorrow. Cheers Op.

Those 'idiots' are probably not had over like you then!
It's bloody USB - its digital. A quality or a cheap nasty one will perform identically along 1.8m
Gold plated is also unnecessary.

Still, for £1 it is a steal for sure so gets hot from me even though there is no local store to me.

Not in Leicester yesterday afternoon

Its a usb cable you can get these for peanuts
#22
It might be worth pointing out (if only for something you can pass on to less techy people in the family etc.) that in the large picture you can see the USB logo that says "hi speed" There are two such ratings for hi and low which correspond with usb and usb 2.0 spec.

In short, if you see this logo then you know the cable has undergone testing and will comply with the standard. They cant show that logo unless it has. So buy with confidence at any price if you see that.

It's digital, but there are things like the quality of the connectors to take into consideration. These are well made cables. Of course gold plated is unnecessary, but for a quid, this is probably the best constructed usb cable you can lay your hands on in the high street if not online as well.

Isnt it all just 1's and 0's hahahahahahahaha

Are the cable heads a stand flat head USB to square head USB? I don't understand the term "Home Theater".
...like the picture below?

Note: Image is NOT the product - just a random image showing the heads.

I've never come across any USB cable, that doesn't work happily at "high speed" USB 2.0.

No, it's about what they're worth. Beware of falling into the "price of everything and the value of nothing" trap.

The point I was trying to make wasn't whether the cables work at high or low speeds (all I've tried work at high speed too) just that the logo tells anyone that this cable will work, regardless of the price.

To put it another way, all USB cables with the hispeed logo have been tested to work. Anyone that isn't sure that a £1-£5 cable can be as good as a £30 one can get their proof from the logo.

I thought it was better than just trying to convince a friend or family member that you personally know all these cables are the same and some retailers are in cahoots getting huge profit margins on the cables.

But it costs nowhere near £30 to make a USB2-certified cable.

I never said it did, but you can find these cables being sold for silly high prices. How about this at Amazon. Originally £50 down to just £16, you save a massive £33!! lol

Have a look on high end HiFi kit seller Russ Andrews for the USB cable which starts at £35 for 50cm.

They're the same as Belkin, trying to drag over the analogue What Hifi culture of demanding expesnive interconnects for ultimate performance into the digital world. It works because people assume it must be the same, and pay out for what seem like better made digital cables in big bright packaging which cost a fraction of a fraction of their retail price to produce. All this when that standard cable that came free with your printer or external drive does exactly the same job, transferring those on and offs over that very same six foot distance at the very same 480Mbps.

Still, it's only a quid, so as I said before, although I don't believe it will make the slightest bit of difference either way, we can afford indulge in the placebo effect.
#35
In complete agreement with you Pokey.

If you're after a cable like this, makes a fine choice as I haven't found anywhere that sells them cheaper.

Yes i agree because pc world, dixons and currys are the only places on planet earth selling expensive cables.
#37
Its a good deal but why on earth have they called it a home theatre cable. I dont have anything in my home tv setup that would use USB. HDMI, check, phono, check, optical, check, scart ( yeah sadly so ) check, component video, check. USB ..... ummmmm not really.

My DAC Magic uses USB. External drives holding movies for use on a HTPC may use USB, although mine uses esata.

Then again, there's a reason these things have found their way into Poundland stores.

This old chestnut again eh? All cables, whether they carry analogue or digital signals, are suspect to electromagnetic noise. They are therefore created with this in mind and utilise methods to reduce noise. All USB 2.0 cables are not exactly the same but the vast majority are capable of doing what they were designed to do. Remember also USB can carry power as well as data - I used to have a flatbed scanner that had no exterior power supply and would only work with the supplied USB cable, I don't know why but it proves not all cables are exactly the same.

P.S. Hot deal! :)
