Came back from poundland a little while ago and i picked up a few computer cables for £1 each. What was so good about them was the fact that they were Belkin so quality cannot be questioned, they came with lifetime warranty and the length of the cables themselves are quite generous.

Cable 1: Belkin Pro Series Hi Speed Internet Modem Cable- Gold Plated contacts- RJ11 Plug/BT Plug- Length 30ft/9.2m Transmission up to100Mbps-Belkin Lifetime Warranty

Cable 2: Belkin PureDATA Series Hi-Speed Internet Modem Cable-RJ11-RJ11-24k gold plating-includes RJ11/BT Adapter Plug-Braided Sheilding-25ft/7.7m Length Transmission up to 100Mbps-Belkin Lifetime Warranty

Cable 3: Belkin USB 2.0 Device Cable-A-B-Printer etc cable-2m Length-Belkin Lifetime Warranty

I havnt compared to any other place, but im pretty sure they cant be this cheap. Because its poundland, an offline merchant, i think its best to say that this would be subject to availability and when its gone its gone.

For more info on these cables, just ask me and ill tell you what the packaging says. Best of luck people.

Edit: Cable 1 on amazon marketplace is £11.90 + P&P & £13.99 from inkandstuff.co.uk

whats the difference between cable1 & 2?

apart from length. both state up to 100mbps, cat5 or not cat5 - still same speeds?

also are there any other lengths, longer cables?

2M belkin USB cable for £1....yeah fair play, thats hot :)

BFM
#3
jihadijulz, I think you will find that Cable #1 is a modem cable going from your BT phone socket to your modem...ie. dialup. Cable #2 is a modem cable for use for non-BT sockets.

Hope this helps.
#4
Cable One is RJ11 - BT (from router to bt socket)
Cable Two is RJ11 - RJ11 (from router to splitter)

Cable two actually comes with an adaptor to turn it into cable one.

Hot! Might pick these up, thanks.

oooooohhhhhh!!!!! gold plated that'll affect the transmission speed on a 25foot Ethernet cable. Good price, but belkin sure like to big up their bog standard networking products to be something world class.

The price for a similar USB A-B cable is £19.99 in PC World.

USB Cable

Very hot, reckon I'll pick a few up as spares.

Just goes to show that Belkin aren't able to sell many of their over-priced cables. I always feel they're specifically made for the PC World customer (aka mainly clueless) no offense though I shop there myself. :-D Good deal though, they've quality stuff, thanks for posting.

I guess so. Ethernet would be RJ-45 and Cat5/e right. I guess poundland did have some ethernet cables too, but i havnt mentioned them as they wernt Belkin.

I don't use PC World but these items from Poundland are a good buy methinks.
#19
LOL Ok, pcworld pricematch....They give you the item for the same price plus 10% of the difference. That means if you were to buy this from poundland, you could take it in to pcworld, get one from them for £1 plus, they would need to give 10% off of the difference,£18 - 10% = £1.80. According to their price match policy, for every cable you took in to them, they would have to sell you another at £1 plus would need to give you £1.80 per cable!!! :w00t:
I know that you think this is nuts, but Hoover also made a kok up of a policy that they ran a few years ago, free airplane tickets (maybe discounted??) ...Some guy sussed it out and ending up buying a load of Hoovers, selling the Hoovers for a few quid, because he was getting loads of discounted or free flights. Was in the paper and they were shafted. Took a massive hit on it.

I got a pcworld price match today on 2 dvd rewriters. Pcworld price, £29.99, Play price £17.99. I bought 2 drives,I got the 2 drives for £17.99 each PLUS 10% off of the difference, 10% of £24 = £2.40. Total £33.60 Come On!! Who's up for buying up a load of cables and making a few quid from Pcripoff?

Beware of using Belkin modem cables for ADSL. I took apart a Belkin cable and found this:

farm3.static.flickr.com/2277/2251822553_31b252f941_o.jpg
farm3.static.flickr.com/2003/2251822555_6059353077_o.jpg

The middle two conductors should be twisted together, and the outer two should be twisted together..... but 1+2 and 3+4 are twisted, which is ludicrous and does massively more harm than good.

As for USB A-B cables, just get the pack of three from Home Bargains for 99p. Same performance and quality as the Belkins.

gee many thanks, got 2 usb a-b cables, heat and rep added:thumbsup:

sounds good and interesting, but they might decline the price match as the store has to be 30 miles (i think) from your local pcworld store, defos worth a try. they may flat out refuse for various other reasons...............

Could it be seen as bribary? :? I just wanted to thank good hukd'ers for their support. It also says when you leave someone feedback, something along the lines of 'hopefully they will return the gesture' or something. Hmm.

Lol.....it would certainly serve them right for over inflating their prices in the first place. I just hope all the stores of poundland have them stocked, so allot of people can make use of this deal. My local had about 5 of each left....and im hoping more in the back.

Ok, so maybe every brand is fallable to some extent. But if you had a choice between Belkin and a different generic brand you have never heard of, dont tell me you would go for the other brand, or tell me that in your eyes they would be no worse then Belkin!!
#33
You're right, I wouldn't choose a generic brand over Belkin if there were no other differences of which I was aware, but "quality cannot be questioned" is rather OTT!
#34
I would actually choose generic over Belkin even if they were the same price. First there would be less packaging waste, and there really would be no difference in quality and performance - I'd rather pick pretty much *anything* over a Belkin cable, especially the RJ11 to BT cable - I went into Poundland today and it looks like they still don't twist the middle two conductors together.

DSG have been absolutely slated on here in the past time and time again but still they try and rip your average joe pc user off with these prices. When will they learn?

Nice post, picked up a couple of Cat5e's and a Usb 2.0.
The Cat5s range if length from 1m\3m\6m if that helps anyone
#38
I thought they only had Belkin crossover Ethernet cables in Wrexham, I then turned round and found Belkin snag-less CAT 6 Network cables, no short 2.1m but they had several 7.6m ones A3L980vea25-s. (aka A3L980-S)

Bargain!! Thanks to OP!!

Grabbed 2 Cat 5e ones, 4.something metres (14 feet), nice find mate.

(newcastle eldon square, plenty left)
