Save my lap but fry my laptop.
#2
It tends to block the laptop fan, so increased temperatures for your laptop......

Not a very good design IMO. How rare is it that you can't find a table to put a laptop on???
#3
Not this monstrosity again?
#4
For temporary use, this is fantastic.
Thanks for posting, i've bought one and added heat.

isnt this always £9.99 - or pretty much...................

do people wait for it to be expired and then repost it?

why buy it for temporary use? what would you use for longer use?

what is the definition of 'temporary use'?

just put the laptop on your lap - the fan will keep you warm in these cold days - be green, put your laptop on your lap!

stop wasting energy

bought one last year - never used it - why did I bother?

Yes.

I've had one of these for over a year. Doesn't make my laptop heat anymore than normal. Thats why laptops have those rubber feet. It allows for the air to flow underneath. The surface is also very solid so about the same as putting it on a table.

Hot deal.

They sell a thing like this at Ikea, for a lower price as I recall, and it has a hard surface on top of the cushion (basically an ergonomically designed lap tray). Anyway - I think that's a better design as it doesn't overheat the lap top - comes in different colours too (well - white and black).

It's a pretty great device though because plenty of people like to use their lap top when they're watching telly and having a lap top heating your lap supposedly lowers your sperm count over time (watch out guys).

thanks, ordered.

I would disagree with previous posters saying it made the laptop hotter. I got one a couple of weeks ago and even though the 'ribbed' surface could do with higher little nodules, when you add the laptop 'feet' it does give room underneath to vent properly. Sitting on the lap or worse still a duvet ... it doesn't.

i need this, my laptop heats up my crotch too much
#17
got 1 for free by using a free acc voucher came with a new 3 contract mobile phone
not very good indeed it fries some hot-tops, but at least it is better than leaving laptop directly on mattress/duvet :-D

basically this isnt a hot deal at all, wudnt pay more then a tenner for it.
but if the top surface is solid, then this is an essential item. if its soft then if will def do you laptop more harm.
looks soft to me from the pictures but thats an awful design if it is.

i got one of these a few months back and they are rubbish. it is really high so when it is on your lap the laptop it too high and makes it uncomfortable to use. I have a macbook pro and found that it kept slipping down and off this too.

I have had one over 2 years and it is a good bit of kit - top is solid not soft in the slightest.
plenty of airflow underneath the laptop - same as a table.

this isn't a hot deal though as i paid the same price for mine 2 years ago! still for a tenner its worth it.
#23
I think the price has come down so fair enough for posting.

I think its a useless bit of kit - but then again I dont have a massive 'laptop' that kicks out more heat than a nuclear reactor and has a battery life of 10mins.

Im amazed people buy these things as laptops - portable desktops is what they should be called.
#24
I've got one of these, I would not advise others to buy one. They are soft so the little rubber laptop feet sink into the sponge; this leaves the fan in your laptop trying to suck in cold air through a few inches of dense sponge. Not a good design, get another product for protecting your lap (and laptop) from the heat.

lol the contradiction between posts is very confusing for potential customers!

i made something for mine anyway, supports my laptop away from the fans, shaped like this- [ ... but turned horizontally! if that makes sense....

I was wondering who was going to be first to spout this crap - it happens EVERY TIME this item is posted :-(

They don't, they are firm but cloth textured surface, NOT a soft cushion. Been using one for a couple of years totally problem free.

Oddly enough I don't have a table in every room... am I so unusual I only have a table in the kitchen? Probably why I find one so useful.

Right i'll clear a few things up for people. I use my lap top everywhere: On the sofa, on tables, in my lap, in bed. When on my lap or in bed the lap top use to be so low that my neck would sometimes start hurting, so i bought one of these a few months back because i wanted my laptop to be higher on my lap than it was, and ive gotta say its one of the best things ive bought. I also find that my fan is working less and less, obviously if your using it on a table, nothing is going to beat that, but its a million times better than using it your bed as the fan will be constantly on. i agree the design could have been a little better i.e make the surface out of something else and not fabric, but it is still solid and not soft like a coushion. Overall for what i got out of it its ace, i also bought the chocolate coloured one as this one looks a bit iffy and it was well worth the £2-£3 extra it was at the time. So overall thumbs up on the product and the price is good even though its always around the £10-£12 range.

aw dont spam it ive just spent all that time writing out that review!;-)

I have one these fro my 17" laptop and find it great, as other posters have said it isn't soft so is the same as putting it on a table in terms of air flow/non-blocking of fans.
I didn't buy it to replace a table, i bought it so i could sit on the sofa and surf while watching tv. I didn't like the position of the laptop and screen when it's just sat on my lap, it was too low so i would end up looking down at the screen. The cushtop raises it by a few inches and makes it a lot more comfortable.
I bought one for a friend as a b'day pressie and she loved it as she preferred to surf on the sofa too.
