been using one of these for year and very good imo

If your gonna use this on your lap for a long period of time, the base is just toooooo hard. It has very little padding, and what it does has is overly firm. You're better off with a dinner tray with a 'bean bag' base.
#4
Can you get smaller ones for netbooks?

Heat added (although detracted from people's legs ;))

These are not well designed products. I bought this based on several good reviews but at most it was quite mixed (which I foolishly decided to ignore, bargain mentality tricked me again). Wasted £8.99...now collecting dust at the bottom of my cupboard.

My main gripe, apart from it being bulky (too large to be partical), the real deal breaker, the surface offers no resistance at all. Didnt feel confident at all using my Macbook Pro on it in case it slid off, which it did once, thats when I consigned the cushtop to the unwanted items cupboard.

Save your cash, you will regret it otherwise. Your choice. Yes, I really do hate this product!

The only problem I have with this is heat from the fans are unable to dissipate and instead is localised causing your laptops to not only reduce efficiency but also over heat the motherboard leading to long term problems. Just go to the pound shop and get yourself a laptop 'prop up' with a fan but don't use the fan unless its for a couple of mins.

Great product - use it all the time with my MBP. Doesn't increase the heat, doesn't reduce the battery time and feels fine on the lap. I used a laptop beanbag tray for a while but found that got too hot. This stays nice and cool.

I used mine with one of these as my laptop was getting really hot against my legs, but those kind of trays have a ridge around the edge and this was restricting the airflow so my laptop actually got even hotter.

I have one of these for my macbook pro and it is rubbish. It slips down by itself and rises the laptop far too high to comfortably use it. I'd recommend looking for something else.

One of the best solutions I have was a random piece of wood or a food tray for it to rest on. Works a treat!

also, spam on hukd?

its not the worlds best for the macbook pros, cos of the small rounded feet it has. on old-fashioned laptops, the feet 'dig in' so it seems to support the machine better.

velcro works well though, a small line on the laptop does the trick, hooks to the cushtop material nicely.

I use my laptop and netbook with my cushtop and it works fine and it doesn't slip off. Maybe your Apple products are just too slippery.

As for overheating, it would overheat less on this than on your lap because it is a flat surface. I also refuse to believe it would heat up more on this than if you rested it on a tray as this is just a flat surface like a desk.

It's a comfortable height for me to use, I don't think it raises it up too high at all personally. I use the product all the time and think it's great.

I have to disagree. I use this on my lap and it's very comfortable! Maybe you're stick thin and so it sinks into your thigh bones lol

poundland do rubbish like this for a £1

I've had this over a year and its amazing. It's really light but very durable. Its also reversible so you can have it inclined or declined. Bought mines for £11 a year ago so at this price its a bargain.

Use mine every day without fail, well worth the £20 i paid for mine 2years ago!

Which proves that, a £20 bottle of wine, tastes better, than the same bottle for £8.99! ROFL

I just use a firm cushion, works perfectly well (i don't use a mouse just the pad).

That's my very laptop in the picture. The iconic Vaio VGN-FE series!

Bought. Thank you OP

I got this because the laptop was overheating when directly on lap, it didn't help it just acts like a blanket for the laptop, especially if you put the charger pack inside the hole, the thing becomes a small heater.

Another good thing about this is that stains come off quite easily. I've had ketchup etc on it and a quick scrub takes it out.
#25
We have 2 of these, on top of keeping laptop cooler it also protects the power jack plug from getting twisted or caught especially if using on a bed or quilt.

Nu such problem with my new MSi, which runs unbeliavably cool!

I balance my laptops centre of gravity on a pin and as long as nothing affect s that very delicate balance my laptops nice and cool!! cant use it of course!

I bought one of these a couple of years ago (usual tenner @Play)
I really don't know why people rave about it? I think it would be great if you could store laptop accessories (mouse, power cord, etc) in the core of it (you can't) or if it had a built in USB hub (it doesn't). Waste of money and surprised at the attention this thing keeps getting heat on this website.......(actually, I do)http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3005/2625840527_2292af392e_o.jpg
