Yes, just plug your Virgin modem into this, then setup security for your wireless network.
#7
Yes you can use this with Virgin Media. Someone in the comments on play said they got it just for Virgin Media.

I've ordered mine a week ago.. still not here, hopefully tomorrow.

Had 2 belkin routers over the years and both have been utter crap!

Wireless locks up or random disconnects and the config pages are usually just for show.

I'm not sure of the correct terminology but could this be used to receive a wireless signal from downstairs and pass it to an xbox via cable? Access point?
#11
Cant really go wrong at that price !!!!! +1 from me ......
#12
my mum and dads just crapped out, so this should do perfectly!
#13
+1 because of the price but ive had a belkin in the past and it was shockingly bad. Continously dropping connection even from 5 metres away. I replaced it with a Buffalo (£5.99 on HUKD a couple of months ago) and its millllessss better.

Just as an added point, I noticed with both routers that the signal cuts out if you have an video sender switched on

Unless Play have made a cockup and they send you the F5D7234-4 v1 instead no as it doesn't have wireless bridging or WDS (wireless distribution service).

Plugged directly into my computer via one of the LAN ports
Opened up web browser to 192.168.2.1
Click Use as an Access Point
Default password is nothing
Set ip address to 192.168.1.20 (spare IP Address on your network) subnet mask 255.255.255.0 (my network range)
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/Lutons/1-6.jpg
Plugged into my network via LAN (LAN to LAN)
You will now see a condensed menu
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/Lutons/11.jpg
Then Setup Channel & SSID
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/Lutons/2-4.jpg
The Setup Security
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/Lutons/3-4.jpg
Disabled WPS
http://i132.photobucket.com/albums/q8/Lutons/4-3.jpg

Done, If I can be of any help, please ask.

Or I can set it to your requirements and email over the config file for you to upload to your device.

If you want to check your IP settings
Go to run, type CMD
Type ipconfig at the command prompt

Now Im confused !

The above post says you can set this up as a wireless access point (ie., no need for CAT5 cabling) whereas the post by Trog) says "it doesn't have wireless bridging or WDS (wireless distribution service)."

Can someone educate me please
#22
This can act as an access point connected to the LAN, CAT5 is required.

It cannot act as a Relay or Bridge.
