£7.27 at amazon, so thats a pretty damn good price. Unless you know difference....

Is that the correct picture?

My son has an Iphone and I now want one.

The internet experience on it is superb, I tried a N95 and it was poor; my current BT HTC is not much better, and all you get are WAP pages anyway - The Iphone gives you true internet with no restrictions on 'mobile' web pages.

So it's camera isn't 8mp - so what, I own a proper camera anyway a mobile phone cmaera is best for snapping unusual items not general photography.

A Belkin case is around £15 - and you DO need a case to protect the back of an Iphone

Hot deal OP.

True that, but I have the switcheasy rebel case, bit pricey at £14.99, but offers amazing protection for the iPhone 3G and 3G S. Plus you get a couple of screen protectors thrown in with the case and a little video stand so you can watch videos whilst having the phone horizontal.

The iPhone 3G/S is the best smart phone out at the moment - Fact.

I had an Xperia before I got mine and there simply is no comparison with the HTC Win Mobile phones or those Google Android things, in terms of support and usability the iPhone just wipes the floor with them.

Seems to be a good price, but to be honest the design is a bit naff.

I have bought a leather case for £15.....i preferred not to wait and let the iPhone get scratched.

I also had the N95 and used the internet everyday.......using the iPhone is a world apart. I actually look at web pages downstairs instead of going to my desktop now. Horse for courses I suppose, but the iPhone seems to have focused on user ability rather than adding new technology features. I can't see me going back to Nokia now.

apple's first ever phone and instantly become the best phone! i never liked apple computers but since i bought the iphone(first gen) i have a different view on apple pcs!

good deal, heat added.

the iphone has a lovely slick interface that nothing can match.

still i chose the the new i8910 HD (omnia HD) as it packs in more tech yet i can still do everything that an iphone can do.

AMOLED 16:9 screen and 8mp camera with 1280x720 video (AAC codec update coming too) . It really is a fantastic camera - In addition to being a phone these were the features that sold it for me.

I so wanted that to be true but a few minutes playing with the 5800 and my fate was sealed too - had to be iPhone. The 5800 could have been an iPhone killer but it isn't. Nokia might come good eventually (I also have an E51 and it's a terrific phone but a poor web and email device). The iPhones phone is pretty basic, you can't control divert options through menus and that kind of thing, but it's made up for more in the web browsing experience and very cheap apps to do just about anything you'd want.

By putting the word 'FACT' at the end of your comment makes you sound like a moron. Just offer advice and give heat where its due.

Good price, so heat added.

PS: The iPhone isn't perfect, nor is any other device. Personally I hope apple sorts out the cover flow problem where some album art isnt copied across to the iPhone. Or Media Monkey release an update so that I can sync my music with it.

This is a deals forum and you should be commenting on the actual deal not whether or not you think the iphone is or isnt crap - given that this usually retails around the £7+ mark I would say this is a good deal. Thanks OP.

Unfortunately, for as long as Nokia insist on continuing to use Symbian based Operating Systems, that will never be the case.

Its all a pay off against each other.

Symbian is decent, fairly stable and fairly upgradable but with much better hardware (The new i8910 HD is a truly astounding piece of kit).
Windows Mobile out of the box is average, but with more and more cooked roms being used you can get quick an improvement on performance etc. My HTC Touch HD is pretty close to what an iphone can do in terms of speed and ease of use.
The iphone has the slick interface down to a t, but the poor camera by todays standards is shocking really.
Its take 3 variations of the iphone to get it to have most the stuff thats standard in basic phones too.

For me, technology over slickness wins everytime.

i think it's better to apply invisible shield to the iphone! a bit hard to apply but well worth it! there is Z shield thing on ebay for £5.98 i guess.

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I used to work for Microsoft and even my mates who still work there can't stand their Windows mobile....but feel free to big them up. :whistling:

bloody brilliant! Very Fast, obviously not so noticeable in calendars etc but if you play games, a lot better and internet is even faster than before, video etc is good too. If you have a 3G its probably only worth it if you are a heavy user / gamer, for a non iphoner / !st gen its a must

I agree

I had an HTC TyTNII and always thought the iPhones were overrrated style over substance affairs - until I tried the 3Gs. It is simply amazing, and I use one now and would not use any other phone again.

It's the best gadget I've ever bought :-D

I had a Nokia 5800 for 4 months and have bought an iPhone 3GS because the 5800 wasn't the iPhone alternative I hoped it would be, not even close. I'll never get another phone now, I'll just get updated iPhones, thy really are that great.

Agreed, I'm an MCSA and whilst I find Windows Mobile naturally quite easy to navigate, I think it's just a bit too limited.

The iPhone's interface is the best I have ever come across on a portable device and whilst it does lack some pretty basic and fundamental features, they're features you simply just don't seem to miss very often.
#35
Yes, I do miss some things from the HTC TyTNII & Windows CE. The missing things for me are:

- perfect Calendar sync (iPhone has certain fields missing or not as configurable)
- tasks
- MS Excel, Word and Powerpoint file compatibility

- It also had TomTom & a London map free, included.

You can get around some of this with paid for Apps, to some extent.

iPhone also has a worse camera, although it works faster and is therefore preferable. Not an issue for me, as a phone camera is for emergency use only in my case. I actually prefer fewer megapixels on small sensor cameras anyway

I don't miss anything else from Win CE, especially:

- crashing every few days
- clunky & slow in use and start up

Overall the iPhone 3Gs is so far ahead there is really no comparison. Even the speakerphone feature works and is usable!
