Just a word of warning, both me and my brother bought one of these a while back and both fans broke within one day, still use without the fan though as a laptop stand
#2
Why would your laptop overheat?!
Seems like a scaremonger product to me.
#3
just a word of warning.......

plus1 from me although mine lasted about 2 weeks. Mine came from costco, bought as i use a netbook for 6-8 hrs in a row in a warm environment so needed something to stop it a thermal throttling then b cutting off. Whilst it was working was the best cooling stand i've had.

claimed retail most places is £30 so they can push it out at £15, at this price it's well worth a punt for careful use.....
#4
I am curious, what are the sizes for the cooling laptop stand?
banned#5
I bought this a few months ago too, and the fans inside are flimsy little pieces of plastic that don't take long to catch and subsequently break.

If you need a laptop cooler, I'd definitely look at one that just blows air out, not a fan.
#6
had one for about 4 months. no problems with it. Caught the fan a lot of times and never broke

They are famed for overheating!

Lot of laptops overheat - most run far warmer than ideal to start with, put it on your knee which blocks some of the vents and most get hot enough to cause damage to future genetic potential!

I had this, they used to be like 5 quid delivered from amazon. Broke in a few weeks, got it replaced and it broke again, so I got a refund and bought a microsoft one. Never had any problems since.

What kind of a crappy laptop would overheat????

I got the usb hub version and the stand broke after a couple months of light use. Now got a coolermaster instead and it's great!

Was going to buy one but after searching found them on ebay (power seller) for £1 cheaper and ebay takes quidco as well

If i did buy one can anyone who has one tell me if it would be easy to replace the fan with a better one.

I have an xpsm1530. Overheats all the time, cpu ramps down. These sorts of stands help with the low airflow and **** cooling design of many higher performance laptops.

Can I ask you a few questions about this one buddy, thinking of getting one for myself.

Does this stand put the laptop on a sharp angle, seems likes it lifting it 45 degrees from the picture? Also, is it suitable for a 15 inch? Are the fans loud?

Thanks mate

Just a word of advice.
Technically it works fine but does not last long..
I had one for an year and it started heavy whining that made me bin it. So think before taking a plunge.

Bought one of these a few months ago; it does work but the fan noise can be annoying.
#17

Fan broke within 6 days here too. Fad product unless you have an ancient laptop anyway. My newish Packard Bell never heats up.

I have never had a laptop over heat, or known anyone who has had one, I was surprised this item even existed.
As for causing damage to future genetic potential, if it is true then lets hope many more people get laptops and strap them on 24/7.

Lucky you.
Most people, would'nt know if it was overheating or not, as they don't know how to find out!
It reduces the life of components, so that's a good reason to make sure it runs as cool as it can

as: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Laptop+overheating&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#q=Laptop+overheating&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=nnr&tbo=1&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&prmdo=1&output=search&source=lnt&tbs=qdr:m&sa=X&ei=Qlm9TYf7BYWu8QOYn93DBQ&ved=0CAoQpwUoBA&fp=50c047f92521a14f&biw=1680&bih=897 shows, 278,000 people have posted on this subject in the last month as a google search confirms, so it is clearly still a very significant problem foir a LOT of people, covering all sorts of models and brands.

laptop cooling fans are NOT pointless. with high performance processors and high end graphics cards crammed in a small space 95 degrees is not unheard of for internal temperatures.
my housemate had an alienware laptop with 2 8800 gtx's in which melted because it overheated.

Aye well that's fair enough if you're going to overload it with extras or buy a hugely powerful laptop...a normal laptop won't overheat. I have an i3 and rarely gets warm other than round the power outlet...

Anyway my statement was concerning the quality of this product..like I said, broke within around 6 days. Not worth the money, and I paid £15!

One argument for getting a cooler is: cooler the parts, the longer they last regardless of spec, model or anything else.
