Think this is the model I bought twice from play and each time had to send back as it had the wrong plug/power supply fitting with it.
#5
Thanks Bully.

Is it possible to use this with g and n devices. If so will the n devices run upto 300mbps.

Correct its backwards compatible with older technologies,N devices to this Router upto 300 mbps although how close you get to that figure will depeend on a few other factors

Its really tempting at this price, its just the majority of reviews say there junk.
#8
could I use this with my O2 broadband connection ?
#9
Would also like to know if there's and known problems using this with Aol.
#10
To be fair the vast majority of reviews are before the latest firmware release, the one or 2 reviews after latest firmware had been released have been positive

What's this like compared to, say, that D-Link they had on The Gadget Show a while back?
#16
Forgive the thick question but can I use this instead of my current Sky Broadband router (Belkin I think)? The coverage of the Sky router is pretty poor really.

Yes you can but you will only notice an improvement in signal/speed if using with other N devices or the supplied N usb adaptor

ordered a few of these, seemed like a bargain. Received them today. Every one has the wrong power supply, the end wont fit. Very bizarre considering they all came sealed.
#28
what do you mean by wrong power supply? I received mine today and although i dont have time to set it up this weekend, i checked the box contents and it is the right UK plug...very pleased ..thanks op
#29
yes, mine is the uk plug, by the wrong supply, i mean the end of the cable wont fit into the router. Try it, see if yours also suffers.
#30
you nearly gave me a heart attack..i went and checked mine and it is the right power supply for the router...and i switched it on and it worked...i guess you were unlucky with yours
#31
by the way...why did you order more than one?...they are selling on ebay for around £35-£40 so after ebay and paypal charges it is not worth the hassle
#32
no i dont sell them on ebay, i sell them through my business activities.

The usb wireless devices alone, between £15 and £20, the router £50.

Just checked all seven of them, every single one has an incorrect psu, it physically will not fit in....
#33
this is very strange...seven routers all with wrong power supply!!!!

Edited By: sam1970 on Jul 25, 2010 09:18: spelling mistake
#34
i know, strange. Every single one. The router is designed to be idiot proof, it has the instructions all lettered.
In my time i have setup hundreds of routers....

Spoke to Belkin, they were aware of a bad batch earlier on in the year, but thought they had all been sorted. The guy i spoke to was pretty helpful and a large number of power supply plugs are on the way :)
#36
so not the only one with a lump of black plastic with an adptor that dont even fit.

Spoke to play and they said cant return item under 7 days as i have opened it and that as first call need to speak to belkin about PSU as I tried to return it as faulty and they passed on details for Belkin support.

This has now put me off using Play altogether, that and they no VAT, means I cant claim it back.

Gonna stick with ebuyer as never had a fault with them in years

Hope you guys and gals get your PSU soon or better still just return your item.

stefone you need to ring play and be more forceful, they offered to refund me on the spot, just asked i send it back. The seven days thing is rubbish.

On their system Belkin had one spare psu left after they had deducted the ones they have sent me, give them a ring (not technical support, customer services) they were pretty good.
