Good deal on a top quality cable - provided you actually need this connector configuration...

It's a good price for a cable; the RRP is ridiculous though (it's worth about £5 at the most). Don't be conned by the nonexistent advantages of overpriced cables.

Shame you cant buy online :(

Do they sell this cable in longer lengths for a similar price too? im after 3-4m

Bought one of these yesterday from Bradford store, superb quality, however picture is in black and white... the basic cable I have works fine and displays in colour..

Any ideas anyone?

The Scart/S-Video connectors aren't sat properly or it's a duff.

Are you using svideo? Are you on svideo-s mode? try changing between pal and NTSC.

not true with scart cables really - i reckon you'd notice a difference between a poundland no brand one that weighs about as much as 5 bits of a4 paper and a £10 one with good heft. i definitely do from connection between a good dvd player and tv.

more shielding, less interference from the mess of cables behind the tv
thicker gauge wires inside the cables

True - you need one with screened cables. Besides that, the same thing applies - the RRP is ridiculous.
more shielding
Between the cores, yes - crosstalk is the main problem with SCART cables.
thicker gauge wires inside the cables
Will make no difference at all - the currents involved are tiny and the resistance will be insignificant compared with the 75 ohms of the video and the several kohms of the audio inputs.

Does anyone know if I can connect my laptop to my tv using this cable?

HI Guys

I just picked up two of these hopefully they will replace the two basic black scarts I am using at the moment.
Hopefully I wont get those black screen thingy, some of the people have mentioned. I have also made it hot ( well tried to).

And I also picked up a sky remote someone mentioned earlier - hope that works as the vol+/- button on my current one does not work. Plus its in black - much better looking, hope it works.

I got two of the leads and there was was 3 left on the shelf. I even spoke to the guy next to me looking at them, told him its a great deals at 2 bucks - he looked at me and walked off. Strange!

I would be happy to pick up more and send them to people but I am away this weekend and the wife is not having any of it.

cheers guys

I got 2 from Consett HB - still about 7 or 8 left.
Also got the Sky replacement.Doesn't work the volume on my tv (Hitachi) but everything else works fine.Usually there's more than one code to input - not with these though.Oh,& if you've got a Sony telly,it's pre-set to operate them.

Bought one of these from Llandudno store today, there were loads (over 20) left on the shelf. Hoping to use it to connect my video to tv in the bedroom as it will hopefully be better than the scart i use now.

I think I would too if I picked it up just to see what the item was, then realise it wasn't needed to have someone tell me its a great deal at 2 bucks, and know that we don't live in America

Got one of these from Huddersfield branch today. Was loads left on shelf.

Also picked up ross remote and a Pure AV universal DVD connection kit for £1.99

The connection kit includes scart block, s-video, composite video and a 3.5mm to two phonos with it. It says on box that the length is 12ft/3.6m and RRP is £32.99.

Maybe i should post as a deal???

Also had problems connecting the lead via s-video to my tv from sky+. The only way it would connect was to put the scart end into tv and s-video end into sky+ box. Worked a treat but you have to change settings on the tv as well(change to s-video).

And yes you can tell the difference between scart connection and s-video. Its a lot better on s-video, maybe due to the fact that i have a cheapo scart cable. Another thing is that when you turn sky on, the tv does not automatically go to sky like on the scart cable.

It's a known problem when connecting certain devices from S-Video to SCART, loads of info on the internet of the same problem. I tried using the cable to connect a friends media server and had the same black and white results.

There is a way to fix it if you are good with a solder, take a look here...
