uhoh, Belkin, I wouldn't buy from them out of principle.
Suppose it's a good price though, so voted hot.

Isn't this a better hub, for pennies more:

It would help if you told us what those principles were...?

Belkin sucks, EVERY product I have bought from them has broken, and I have bought three, a Wireless router, a USB Wi-Fi stick and a Hub. Also, their business is appaling - they have been paying people to give them good reviews even though they don't have the product.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - VOTED COLD

Sorry to hear you've had bad experiences with Belkin, but I can't say I've had the same. Cables, surge protectors (have about 20 of them) and usb hubs etc.. I always use them. Routers I've always stuck to Netgear. I've had a couple of the surge masters fail which were replaced with no problem what so ever, cables (AV ones in particular) make a huge difference over the standard ones you get supplied with devices.

I've had this hub for about 5 years, along with a 7 port one which work fine. Will probably buy another at that price.

(They haven't paid me to write this, honest!) :)

Sorry, it's been quite prominent in the Bitter Wallet blog and other tech sites, that Belkin has been paying people to post good reviews for them and bad reviews for competitors products. Also employees have claimed that Belkin installed custom firmware on devices they give to company/website reviewers that is much better than the firmware that is given to the customers.

I just assumed everyone knew this by now, sorry.

Aaaaah, I was not aware of this (I haven't been following Bitter). If this is true then I WOULD boycott them. Thank you for the heads up.

And sorry for the eye roll, I was feeling a little scornful

Well, after Googling "Belkin paid employees", I am quite overwhelmed by the evidence! They have just lost yet another customer. :x

no its not a powered hub

no its not a powered hub

It is a powered hub, and it feels incredibly light and plasticy and is much larger than it needs to be.

I haven't actually tried it yet, giving up on it as poor quality just from the feel of it.

Not a sensational deal.
have a look at dealextreme.

A huge range there
non powered USB hubs just over a £1 ($2 US) delivered
powered ones start at £3 ($5 US) delivered.

Ditto other comments on Belkin.
Things ive had from them stopped working or never worked properly in the first place.
But this is just a hub. What could go wrong? ?Haha

Was just think I need more usb ports the other day. What's the advantage to using a powered one instead of a non-powered one?
#18
you can't run high current devices through a non powered hub.

I just ordered this belkin one:
http://www.microdirect.co.uk/Home/Product/39642
Belkin TuneSync 5 port USB 2.0 hub and Ipod Dock
£4.59 plus about 3-4 quid psotage I think.

Its good for me because it's powered, 4 ports discretely hidden and has an ipod dock.

I have to agree with the people on the previous page... I really dislike Belkin as all the products I have bought have failed within a year.

Neutral from me as it's Belkin, however if it actually works then this is a hot deal :)

Belkin is COOL
Rest is C*AP

(How do I get cash for posting this )

Think about all the companies we buy from that do similar things (& worse) that we've not heard about so far.

It's time we abandoned them all I say

That seems like a good item, but doesn't seem to support the Ipod Touch?

Actually, I stand corrected - UNofficially, it charges the Ipod Touch and Iphone too. Thanks - I'll think I'll go for that one.
#24
aye. sounds decent as long as it works :-) There is cashback from Microdirect too!

im getting one

my belkin ipod powered hub from above has arrived. Seems reet. bit light and I'm not especially keen on the lights on the front of it but it works with my ipod touch, and an external hard disc with no problems. With the rubber case on the ipod I couldnt get any of the adapters to fit so im not using one at the moment. might hack one up a bit to make it fit.
Sorted.

Mine arrived too, great hub and ipod dock.

Received my (non-ipod) hub and very happy. Works fine, power supply works. Very happy.

Excellent price for a well known brand - i've just bought one for my PS3 (powered will allow me to charge 2xcontrollers and have the Guitar Hero dongle + HDD all at once).
