the Belkin Laptop Cooling Stand is designed for 15.4-inch or smaller laptops. To prevent slippage, the stand features rubber pads on the feet, and a small plastic panel folds out from the bottom of the stand that elevates the rear for better ergonomics. The gentle slope reduces wrist strain, and by raising the screen height, it also reduces neck strain that is common to laptop users.

Yes. Good for laptops 15.4in and lower. It's far superior to the Microsoft product posted here in the last few days.

Yes, a "scam" that keeps my CPU, GPU and HDD all at lower temperatures.

i think what royals is saying is that anything that raises the laptop off flat would do that.
eg a brick

Just speaking from my experience of travelling each week with a couple of laptops... I have this for at home and don't usually plug it in but it does keep my laptop cooler so the fan doesn't run as loud and keeps it running a little faster.

And he is absolutely correct. Personally I think this is rather more stylish than a brick.

are you sure you work in the IT industry, cause if you do, you will know that intense laptop usage of both ram and cpu will cause considerable amount of heat. keeping both the ram and the cpu cool will only prolong the laptop.

the belkin cooler is one of the best laptop cooler on the market, its design blows a lot of cool air onto the bottom of the laptop, the gap from table/surface to cooler gives it a considerable amount of air to vacuum onto the bottom of the laptop. while still being considerablly quiet.

I paid £12.99 three years ago.

Can you use this on your lap?
If not, can you suggest something at similar price (or cheaper) that you can? Not bothered about it having a fan, just need something to use the laptop on my knees, in bed etc as it gets awfully hot and those beanbag trays are pants...
#15
will a 15.6 inch widescreen laptop fit on to it? i read some reviews on amazon saying it was too small for a 16 inch widescreen laptop.
#16
Been using one of these for a good 18 months now, paid about £12 for it and I considered it to be a bargain then, at this price a steal.

Yes it can be used on your lap.

I just caught my finger in the fan whilst trying it on my lap, but yes you can.

Is the fan loud?

It's not that loud. You can hear it, but it's not irritating even in a silent room.

My 15.4in laptop overhangs by an inch either side, but the "feet" sit perfectly on the cooler.

If you have a laptop which belts out a shed load of heat through its base and you cannot be arsed to upgrade or sit in a fridge then this is a great product.

I have one and find it really good at doing what it says it will. heat!

Seems to work but also seems to have a very high failure rate.

ordered one thanks

Has anyone got any real scientific fact that having a fan underneath works at all other than keeping the external casing cooler? As far as I know the crucial parts of the heatsinks fixed to the CPU, chipset and the graphics chips. They are already being cooled directly by internal fans right above the heatsinks. So how can an external fan improve on the cooling of the CPU/chipset and graphics which are already done by the internal fan(s)? I keep all my laptop bottom cool by raising it off the table with an air gap.

just bought one. fantastic deal. doesn't have to be a brilliant 5* product but its good enough for me :D
#34
Would this take the weight of a fat ps3???? I have a desktop fan pointed at it at the mo?????
#35
Dunno about this one but the one I've used before reduced the cpu temp by so little I dumped it.
#36
Hmmm... For just £7.40 I might get the black one (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Laptop-Cooling-Capacity-F5L001erBLK/dp/B001HNOLBI/ref=pd_cp_computers_2) for my PS3 slim which can get quit hot. At "12.6 x 11.6 x 1 inches (W x D x H)" it should fit nicely.
