Had been looking for a wireless adapter for the Xbox 360 (the MS one at £60 a bit expensive), but went into my local Staples in Leicester and they had the Belkin Wireless G Ethernet Adapter (802.11g) for £19.95. Apparently they have been discontinued.

Bought one (still at least another two on the shelf), configured using laptop, then hooked it up to the 360, and wirelessly on Xbox live within 15mins (using our old xbox live account). These maybe online but have not checked yet.

Have not made many post so.......

edash....just want to know or if anyone else knows...is that once you have the device, how do you configure it using a xbox 360 to your existing home wireless network?.. do you just connect it the console and then go to the system settings and search for the network? and does this use the same speed as the Microsoft one (the £60) over an 11g network speed? thanks in advance. :)

does it really work?

you will need to setup the wireless setting on the unit via a pc or laptop

Yes it really works! You just need to connect it to a PC to add the wireless encryption, once that's been done you can confirm wireless connectivity to your wireless network (e.g surf the internet). Then you unplug the network cable from the PC and connect it to the network port on the 360, switch on the 360, and the 360 connects! Its that simple! The speed is as fast as the xbox 360 adapter, but does depend on the speed of your network. The down side, it is bigger (about 4" square/1" high) and requires a mains socket for the power adapter......but otherwise is working great.

so edash...i set it up on my PC and search for available wireless networks and if it finds them and connects i then just connect it to my xbox 360? and then where do i go on my xbox 360 to connect it to my wireless network? thanks in advance really apreciate it..have some rep as well:)

I'm assuming you have a wireless network to connect to, having established connectivity to that via your PC, you unplug the network cable from the PC and reconnect the adapter to the XBOX 360, via the network cable. Switch your xbox on, and click on 'xbox live' and off you go, the xbox will connect tp your wireless network.....its that simple nothing else to do......hope this helps:-D

ok...maybe the bit your missing that I skipped over, all the network information is initially set up on the PC via an install CD that runs a network setup wizard follow the instuctions (adding your network info including an encyption key, if your network is encrypted (either WEP or WAP). This cofiguration information is saved in the nework adapter, so there is no further configation required on the xbox.

thanks edash..you legend! lol...so i first make connectivity between my PC and the wireless router and then plug it into my xbox 360 and i'm done?...also does this work with DSL and ADSL wireless modem routers? thanks  :)

I'm using an ADSL wireless modem/router that the xbox is now connecting through to xbox live.

Wow if this works on the 360 i lucked out. My dad bought one of these recently for my brotheres pc, but the pc broke. I happen to have a 360 and was looking for a wireless adaptor, but the official one is far too expensive. If this works then THANKYOU EDASH!

seems a good deal but the IEEE have just approved the new standard so 801.11n so the old G ones will not be able to be given away come March. In saying that still a good deal.

Thanks again for this and all the extra info edash :) Very helpful, easy to follow explanation on how to set it up ;-)

Edash, any chance you could go into specifics about the actual Wireless Adaptor? What model is it? I have a Belkin Wirless adaptor, not sure if its the same one.

Also, i've mentioned this on two other 360 forums, with a few posters saying the adaptor doesn't work. Any way of confirming this at all? Maybe a picture of you on marketplace with the adaptor plugged in? With no ethernet cords in sight? Will be able to prove/deny this tommorow, but wouldnt mind giving the posters something to go with!

Sorry if i seem a bit unsure now, it's just i have heard before that only the official adaptor works. Hoping this isn't a case of being too good to be true!

The model is F5D7330uk, and it most definitely works. This is a link to the same model on Amazon:

Also link to ebuyer, where there are a few reviews with people who have connected to an Xbox 360:

Lol, they can give me as many as they want because you will not get any faster internet access than a wireless g series.

My connection is 2mb, some peiople have 8mb, the wireless g series can connect at 54mb, so unless sometime in the near future broadband companies and BT are going to come up with a super duper fast broadband connection then wireless 54g series have a heck of a lot of life in them yet.
