If you are looking for a bike helmet from a decent brand then this seems like a good deal. Just got a new bike & decided to replace my old bike helmet which was cheap to begin with (like a cheap one bought from argos) & is now starting to come to pieces. Looking around online didn't really know what to get but this seems pretty cheap at £15.60 for something that is selling for between £28 & £50 elsewhere online. The one review suggests that this might be an older design & not the newer one which includes built in lights etc so this might explain the price difference. Other colours/sizes available but price varies (somewhat randomly) according to size &/or colour.

Other colours & sizes available for around £16 (rather than £50):

S/M Hi-Vis Yellow
S/M Matte Black Vis
S/M White/Silver Hash Lines
M/L Purple Hash Lines

Sizes:
S/M 50-57 cm
M/L 54-61 cm

Yeah there were a few options I looked at. I was initially looking at the Giro Skyline for around £16 but then noticed the Bell Piston was cheap & then saw the Muni which had a higher RRP & was around the same price in my size/colour options. The pricing is quite erratic - the S/M of the Muni Titanium is double the price. I got fed up with looking after a while & ordered the Muni in Titanium so that's what I linked to.

I'm on the hunt for another couple of helmets but had to close the windows down as I was getting bargain overload with all the various offers on and any more would have needed some Diazepam or other chemical to bring me back to normality. X)

bought and heat added after using a Bell helmet on a segway over the weekend - and realising how rubbish my (10yr) old bike helmet is. thanks :)

I'm sure it's a good price but as I only have the one head I'd only buy a Snell certified helmet. You can get a Specialized Align for about £30.

What's the difference between Snell certified & non-certified? I had a look at the Snell website & there only appear to be about 10 cycle helmet manufacturers listed which seems pretty low for a global market place with Specialized being the only one I'd heard of (although admittedly I'm no expert). This means that either the majority of bike helmets aren't safe or Snell certification isn't necessary.

Actually looking at the website (smf.org) Specialized appear to be one of only 3 manufacturers on the planet producing Snell-certified 'open face' cycle helmets. Do you think that Specialized helmets are any safer than the Bell ones? Or just that Specialized bothered getting their helmets certified by an organisation imposing a standard that literally no-one else in the industry uses?

Mine arrived today - mine is the model (made in November 2013) which does not come with built-in lights but has the fittings to attach front & back lights & has the TAG (Twin Axis Gear) fit system which seems pretty straight forward. The helmet is really comfortable when it's been adjusted correctly which took a couple of minutes so very pleased with it for £35 off RRP. :)

Just as a follow up to this I happened to read in another thread about Bell Motorbike helmets that they are zero rated for VAT as safety equipment if they meet certain conditions. This also applies to bicycle helmets:

[taken from amazon's own site: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=help_search_1-1?ie=UTF8&nodeId=200135940&qid=1406282022&sr=1-1]

Pedal cycle helmets qualify for a VAT rate of 0% if:
1. The cycle helmet is manufactured to standards which satisfy requirements imposed by the European Community Directive on Personal Protective Equipment (the PPE Directive)
2. It bears a mark indicating conformity with those standards.

I wasn't sure if this applied to the Muni helmet but did live chat with amazon about my order for this helmet & they have refunded me £2.60 without any argument - so I have now only paid £13 for a helmet with a RRP of £49.99. I'm not sure whether my helmet is even manufactured to the standards described (although I would assume it is) but I guess amazon don't know this information either so would probably refund you regardless.
