Get real, if someone offered you 3 times your annual salary to publish a book would you say "Oh no I'd rather do something for charity".

I love Top Gear and enjoy watching the Stig but he is just a driver in a suite, he can be replaced and if the current Stig wants to make career move then good on him.

Look at how much they pay Clarkson, Hammond, and May each compared with the Stig. Egg on face for the BBC for taking the pith with the Stig's wages IMO, if they paid him what he was worth this book wouldn't be out.

Same old Champagne socialism from the BBC and its cronies. Pay the directors vast wages and bonuses, pay the "stars" millions in contracts, but if a lowly normal worker asks for a bit more cash hes made out to be some sort of evil charity hating money grabber.
I hate the BBc. It spends millions a year on expenses and taxis for its high up staff whilst threatening jail and massive fines for anyone that legitimately doesnt want their "service "anymore. Its an offence to even have a computer in your house now without it having a tv licence just in case you watch a bit of video on it,shamefull hypocrite bullying organisation . Fight the BBc!

Rant over good deal Heat ;-)

While I don't necessarily agree with TV presenter salaries, that makes no sense. It's a bit like saying "Look what the tea boy on set gets compared to...etc." The point you fail to see is that the Stig (just like the tea boy) can be easily replaced without majorly effecting the show.

LOL, yes I'm sure he was probably on minimum wage with terrible working conditions, poor guy!

From where I'm sitting it looks like a damn good job with (I'm betting) a very good salary. If he wasn't pleased with the pay, terms or conditions then I'm sure there are plenty of other people who would be very happy to take his place.

Well if I had a job that was considered by millions upon millions of people as being one of the very best jobs in the world, I'd say no. The blokes a w**ker.

In all fairness, what is the Stig worth? He is a creation of the BBC and anyone can play his role so he's dispensable. I don't particularly like the presenters (they all talk in that same annoying voice) but the Stig is supposed to be a mystery. He must have signed confidentiality agreements when he took on the role so it's a little "rich" of him to want to cash in on his notoriety now.

hopefully this book will fail, and Top Gear will bring another Stig out in a different coloured suit (or suite as above) :p
#19
Would have been so much better if turned out to be someone people had actually heard of from top tier motorsport rather than some nobody who runs track days.
#20
The Stig's attraction was his mystery, not his longevity. Just get someone else to do it, and the problem is solved. It's a lot of fuss over nothing.

Good price for the book. Deal. Heat added.

we just need someone to fill the gap until Rubins Barichello can take up the job. Once "the Stig" had been beaten the writing was on the wall.Perhaps Michael Schumacher could do it for real , coz he aint doing much in F1 lol

People knew that Ben Collins was The Stig at least a year before this book came about.

lol @ all the negativity here. The stig / top gear is probably most blokes dream job, so to get the oppourtunity to read a little about what its like behind the scenes is a novelty.

Besides, everyone that follows Top gear has known for a while its Ben collins. Hes done so much work for top gear and even appeared as himself on many occasions in various races and car football. He was even named in Hammonds dragster crash report afterwards, so it shouldn't come as much of a suprise.

And if even 20% of what has been said in the papers recently is true, then TG haven't exactly treated BC very well have they, but how can you complain when no-one is supposed to know who you are. The BBC had BC over a barrel!

I for one will look forward to reading it, and for a top gear fan, its deffo worth it for a fiver!
