I don't think I've ever seen a non-TN panel for anywhere near this price, not that I've really been looking for one. When I was buying a monitor a couple of years ago a decent *VA panel was £250+, this should be hotter. I'd probably buy one if I had the money. It's the backlight that's LED, that means less power consumption, and I think it also makes the whites a bit whiter, if that makes sense.

Loads of inputs and some nice specs. However, take in mind this is a VA panel (slightly misleading description as it claims it's both a LED and VA panel), so whilst being inbetween TN and IPS in terms of colour gamut/viewing angles and being a true 8-bit display, it sports the worst response time of all three... meaning it's definitely not the choice of monitor for gamers - the states 8ms response time is grey-to-grey, which is a little cheeky as the white-to-black time will be somewhere in the region of 15-25ms.

Voted hot though because it's a great monitor for any other use, and will make most TN panels you've ever used look like washed out crap :)

LED and VA are two different parts of the monitor, VA is the panel type (TN,VA or IPS), and LED is how the panel is lit (LED or CCFL)

A stonking price.

Useful info, thanks. It does sound good for a non gaming monitor but I’m looking for a monitor to use a TV and the response time is possibly too slow to use it as a TV!
A shame as it has an excellent selection of inputs and the price is very good for the spec. There’s a user review at Beyond3D - http://forum.beyond3d.com/showthread.php?t=58821&highlight=ew2420

Waqas and Agharta (and anyone else who's got one), I've been looking at this monitor for the past few days, prior to this deal and would be most appreciative if you two can post back with your impressions of the monitor.

Ideally, I'd like to know about how responsive it feels when you play fast games (i.e. first person shooters), how good the image quality and colour reproduction is and finally how badly it exhibits a problem known as "black crush" or gamma shifting that's inherent on monitors with VA panels.

For the black crush thing, if you would take a moment and open this image on the monitor, view it straight on at full screen and see if you can see any colour changes usually around the sides or the centre being darker (with loss of detail) compared to the rest.

Thanks!

Its exactly the same monitor as the one reviewed here but with extra connections and not as slim. This should help Crackerbear

Yeah, I've read that review and every other review that I can find via Google, but it's not really conclusive enough, I'd like to hear more user opinions. Plus, none touch upon the "black crush" problem that I mentioned in my previous post.

I got the shipping email at midnight and it was delivered 5 minutes ago. It's still in the box but when I get time I'll post a mini review.

Hi, checked the image in full screen and it looked fine, no blurs or colour changes near the edge.

Do you own or play any fast paced games (i.e. first person shooters)? I'd like to know if you notice any ghosting or input lag.

There's also a few online tests you can try such as these:

PixPerAn test:

Browser based tests:

Thanks for any further info!

I bought this monitor, yes it uses a VA panel which does exhibit superior viewing angles and superb black reproduction, but mine suffered from a green tinge which could not be removed, if your'e not super picky about fleshtone colour you probably won't notice it, but I am and I did notice it, so did the reviewers on Tech Radar, also, because of the fantastic blacks, this monitor is very very bright, I had to reduce brightness levels from 100 down to 15, on gaming I had no noticable ghosting playing Black Ops & MOH, in fact this VA panel felt exactly like a TN panel in FPS games. Overall it's an impressive monitor on first acquaintance, but the colour reproduction was flawed on my sample and the ultra bright screen becaming tiring after awhile, this one's going back.
