I bought one on Friday and it arrived saturday, after a bit of testing over the weekend I have to say it is nice and crisp on the picture and looks great on the colour, still trying to decide on the speed, where fast paced gaming is concerned, not sure if it was me, the screen or the alcohol (I suspect the later) sometimes the screen seemed a bit 'busy', needs a bit of (sober) testing though.

A great price for a good monitor in any case.

Could be the 5ms response time causing that.

If it was a bit 'busy' due to the gaming would it be the same when watching a film?

5ms not enough for gaming? How can that be?

Got the 22" model of this, had it for over a year now. Great monitor for the money. Never had any issues, solid image quality.

I was looking at this monitor a while ago, at about £140. Looks really nice. If my current one would break or die, then I'd jump on this deal.

Looks like a great deal and it says 2 years onsite warranty on the amazon page (same price there). One thing I will say about Benq though, I supplied their monitors to a business client and they came with next day on-site swap warranty. One of the monitors went wrong and it took over a month to receive a replacement, kept getting messed around. It wasn't Benq themselves as they are based on the continent but it was their nominated UK service provider. After a lot of arguing my client received a free 18'' monitor for the trouble but it wasted a lot of time.

how bad are the "real" viewing angles on this?

tempted to punt for an ips screen due to also using it as a tv/film screen

Often watch films on this at a 20-25 degree angle without problems

EDIT - Though this could be 15-35 in all honesty. Haven't got the maths set out in a long time

BenQ site specifies it as this : (Viewing Angle (L/R;U/D) (CR>=10) = 170 / 160), not a clue how to decipher that though

Can you link to Amazon? I'm seeing £134 there.

I have had the G2420HDBL (LED backlit version whereas this deal is LCD)

Had it for just under 2 years and been very happy with it. Not sure how much of a difference there is between the LCD and LED versions though. The LED is still slightly more expensive than this deal.

In response to viewing angles - mine is fine straight on, working at a desk or for playing games - great response times and no problems or issues with any games. In terms or real-world viewing angles I can notice the colours on the sides of the picture begin to change once I get more than about 30 degrees off centre. An IPS would certainly offer better picture quality, but not quite down in this price range for a 24" yet.

Nevermind I just ordered the new edition of this monitor from Amazon for £118.76 only 2ms response rate

A quick question: Any difference between the LED and LCD in terms of colour reproduction?

Yeah LED offers a more clearer, defined picture than the older LCD technology. The one I just bought from Amazon is an absolute steal at £118 delivered. I just bought an Acer one from Amazon last week and it's going back as the colour reproduction is dreadful.

OK, then how about this one?

Reviews seem good but haven't heard the brand before. Any info on HannsG?

is this (or the new one previously mentioned) better/worse than this samsung one for a few coins more?

trustus, can you link to the new one you bought? you mention BenQ GL2450 24 inch Widescreen LCD TFT Monitor (16:9, 1920 x 1080, 250 cd/m2, 1000:1, 5 ms) but thats LCD not LED (and also dvi not hdmi)

Hawt. If you have the money to be considering a new monitor, don't get yourself anything less than this.
