Probably not as popular as north face, but should work well fingers crossed. I got one for myself, hopefully it will beat the bitter winter.

Thanks for posting. Looks good, but no reviews yet?

How accurate are the sizes? I usually take a small if the sizing is accurate.

I have a RG1 - bought off Amazon couple months ago for about £50.

I can honestly say its one of the best purchases I've ever made!

Not sure whats the main difference with the RG3, but if its anything like the RG1 then its highly recommended!

Before getting mine, what I did was go into a Blacks, or similar, and try the jacket on to find out what my size is. Then went home and ordered online for cheaper :D

Is there any cotton or wool inside the jacket? It is suitable for winter to wear it? Better to defend against the cold, it would be great!

I always do a google search for something I don't know about then find a review site. There are plenty of reviews and comments on outdoor clothing sites to help anyone find what they want.
Sadly, north face and helly hansen are being worn as a fashion statement in some areas, by middle aged ladies etc who were told they're good, and get them on mandm.
I bought a berghaus(not this model) to try and be different as well as warm and dry.

Retepetsir, thanks for the description. Basically its a weatherproof light jacket with a removable inner fleece. I think the RG1 insulated is a good one too, but it can only be used in the winter.

Berghaus is even worse than TNF. In most of Scotland, it's the kit of choice for neds (chavs).

Berghaus isn't a manufacturer anymore - they just buy in the same stuff, churned out in China, that all the other 'upmarket' fashion brands do, have it endorsed with their brand ---- and most importantly, for them, flog it for about four times what it's really worth - and can't believe their luck that people fall for it :) Another example of hype and brand winning out over quality and value.

jhw - why not make your post more informative and recommend a jacket that is of the same quality but of less value compared to this offer?
#12
Yes Jhw. So what is good......just because its China...

I have the basic jacket without the fleeces (assume its the same more or less). Great jacket when teamed with any fleece. Keeps you nice and dry in most conditions and its fairly smart but if you are out for more than an hour in constant rain it starts to get a bit damp inside. Went for a townie walk up a Welsh hill in some inclement weather and it got me about half way up before becoming pretty sodden. That said , great for town and park use which is how I use it 99.99% of the time.

First of all, I work for Millets. So I may be biased, as we sell a lot of Berghaus products.

Almost all my kit is Berghaus. In my experience, their customer service has been excellent, and they've replaced many items without quibble that to my eyes have just been misused or neglected.

If I remember correctly the AQ2 fabric has a fairly decent hydrostatic head of 10,000mm (Gore tex is 28,000mm, but normally just over twice the price for an equivalent jacket).

It may be made overseas, but so are just about every other waterproof jacket you'll find, and the company actually originates from Sunderland.

Most problems with waterproofing can be solved with a proper clean and re-proofing. There's a nerdy and probably very boring video about that here. However, this should only have to be done after some use, and if it's not waterproof straight from the box, then send it back!

I've got a 3 in 1 AQ2 jacket I got at work which I love, but I recently treated myself to a Berghaus Tasman Gore-tex Paclite bright red waterproof jacket, which I was very pleased to have got for £69 on one of those "make an offer" ebay listings :) Now I never wear my 3 in 1, I almost feel guilty for abandoning it....
