couldn't agree more !, just bought this jacket and a great pair of Berghaus shoes, loads more on there.

#6

why not?, Just bought a pair of Berghaus explorer trek gore tex boots for £45, quality item at a great price.

At last, a Berghaus jacket where you pay more for the goods than the brand. Hot.

Yes, based on the store (Stratford on Avon) I'd say it's yet another incarnation of Sports Direct, but who cares if the goods are decent at the right price? I can put up with their staff in return for a bargain though you need to watch out for their return policy!

Owned by Sports Direct now. Has Berghaus now become one of their own brands, like Karrimor?

the crap filtering is just as bad as sports direct (i.e. select "mens" and it still displays loads of ladies' gear)

Spend over £50 and its FREE delivery!!!

Didnt buy Berghaus jacket in the end and went for a new pair of Merrell's instead - £34.05 delivered for Chamellion ISO trekking shoes!!! Absolutely love my Merrells as I am a small size 9 and these fit nice and snug - my last pair have taken a real beating and cant recommend them enough!
#17
Good deal but after checking the site, went for the 4-in-one 'Shadow' Berghaus at £100 instead which I thought was better value...

I looked at that one, but got put off with how rediculously big and clumbersome it looked like on the model !

No Berghaus is unrelated to Sports Direct (Berghaus is a brand owned by Pentland Group) - you can also buy Berghaus in Blacks, Millets etc.

First find the Millets! Where have they all gone?

Berghaus are really only a brand name in the UK. All of their stuff is just bought in and branded with the name, which adds about 100% to its worth. It's a marketing exercise, where the badge costs as much as the article.

Obviously someone who cannot afford Berghaus !!
#26
is this a coat for a chav? or a hill walker?
#27
good deal i paid £50 in the summer for one of these and thought i got a good deal,

this is worth it for the rain, and slightly wind proof, but you will need a fleece under or warm top!

I'll go with jhw on this, thanks. It's nothing to do with whether you can afford Berghaus - it's just whether Berghaus is worth the premium, or whether it's basically just the label you're paying for.

At the moment, Berghaus is fashionable, but that will change, as did the Karrimor brand once Sports Direct got hold of it. As Berghaus becomes less fashionable, prices drop - and that exactly what's happening now, as people move onto so-called 'better' brands.

You're paying for the brand - not the garment itself. ;-)

And I thought Mr & Mrs Berghaus personally wove the material and sewed these togther in their alpine cottage in Germany/Austria/Sweden/wherever.

Next you'll be telling us that Yves Saint Laurent and Calvin Klein get help in on their sewing days too.

That's why I buy Primark - if it's junk it's cheap, honest junk - but some of it is actually quite good.

Karrimor were completely bought out by sports direct though, and the quality of the products suffered badly - that's why they became a cheap brand. You can't really say the same about
Berghaus. I'm not saying that won't ever happen cos who knows? but as it stands they still make very good quality gear. Just because you can get an RG1 cheap nowadays don't make them comparable to Karrimor!

Another rich boy on the hotukdeals forum.

Good price for the jacket, get this ready for the rainy spring time season peeps!!
#37
Not happy with my order with this company, like others I have just received an out-of-stock email stating that the jacket has been cancelled, but on the same email it states that the other item has been despatched. I only ordered the other item to get free delivery as it made it over £50. They should have given the option to cancel both items before despatching the "filler" item surely??
#38
Just refuse the delivery when the guy delivers it.

That depends on the garment I think - some of their Extrem range is brilliant - and priced in line with competitors. That being said, that's high-end kit, and there's bound to be compromise further down the scale. If you can get a good deal on their lower end equipment, it's still a good deal. It might not perform as well as some competitors' £100 jackets though, so don't always believe the RRP :)
