Berghaus RG1 Jacket £39.99 at Millets

The Berghaus RG1 Jacket has a DWR (Durable Water Repellent Treatment) applied to the fabric which is made from Berghaus’ own Aqua-Foil technical material. The inner also has a mesh drop lining to help with breathability and moisture movement.

With a hood large enough to fit a hat/helmet, the Berghaus RG1 Jacket is ideal for climbing, walking or running and it will roll away neatly into the collar when not required.

The Berghaus RG1 Jacket has two outer-zipped pockets which have a hand-warming micro fleece lining to keep your hands toasty warm when the springtime temperature drops!

The reliable YKK front zip is protected by a double storm flap, only found on high specification hill-walking jackets, to keep the weather away from your undergarments.

A drawcord hem allows you to be totally protected from the elements. The Berghaus RG1 Jacket is a classic hill-walking jacket, great for any outdoors fun.

i bought one of these RG1 jackets from Amazon a few months back, they are very comfortable and warm too. Great price

Can anyone with one tell me how many inside pockets this has?

Off to Macchu Pichu in Peru in August, anyone know if this would be warm enough for that (plus a trip to the Atacama desert and the Colca Canyon) ?

It'll be fine as a top layer. Take a fleece or better still, buy an Alpaca jumper for a few quid when you get there......and don't forget to try the deep fried guinea pig while you're there.

In my RG1 two hand pockets only none inside the coat

In my experience the various Regatta styles do what Berhaus can at a fraction of the price.

Eaah to their own, plus, depite being exorbitantly priced at £70 odd sometimes, this is frequently at this price - bought one from the pools company for about £25 a few years back.

I also have this coat, got it from Cotswolds outlet a year back for the same price. No inside pockets, just 2 outside hands ones, and a fold-away hood. Its a good coat for the elements, light and waterproof, but not the most stylish on the planet.

And this would deffo not be warm enough for Macchu Picchu. You'd need a good few layers underneath. It is more a waterproof shell, there is no lining worth talking about. Stick a fleece on under it and you'll be toasty and dry.

Just what I need thanks, ordered and hot!

I live in Peru but still keep a check on here for any good deals.
If you are only going to Macchu for a 1 day trip it will be fine but if trekking then buy a very lightweight waterproof because most of the time you wont want your Jacket and definitely will be a pain to carry.

enjoy.

It's warm enough for Rhyll so it should be fine but take a string vest just in case

I'm climbing Kilimanjaro this summer, and could do with a new coat. Would this do? I'm looking for layers over one big thick coat...

Best off looking at a proper brand such as Montane or Ron Hill.

I have one of these - great coat - nice and warm

Got it when it was cheap on Amazon and Go Outdoors price matched it for me (about £50 I think)

Agree with mark7402, you will only need a fleece for nights if you are trekking, if you find a red lowe alpine hat on the trail its mine :(

I'll have a look. Unfortunately, as a poor student I'm on a budget...

Anyone know if this can be returned to a store if it doesn't fit? The return to store policy on the website says that only faulty or unopened products can be returned.

Can u zip an appropriate Bergahus fleece into this RG1 should you need it? Or do you have to buy the RG1 insulated?

I am a bit concerned if you are going up Kilimanjaro and asking questions like this.

Berghaus do make proper mountain shells too (for £200+). The RG1 is really just streetwear though.

My son has had one of these for three years. He uses it for school and UK countryside and mountain walking every week. It still looks like new. I think we paid about the same price.

So you're climbing Kilimanjaro and asking for equipment advice on a shopping forum.

"DWR (Durable Water Repellent Treatment) applied to the fabric which is made from Berghaus’ own Aqua-Foil technical material"
commonly known as polyester sprayed with a can of WD40. They're selling these, without the Berghaus label, for £12.99 in Matalan. Some people are suckers......

Only walking in England on DofE and things has meant I've only ever needed my thin craghoppers waterproof. Don't really know anything about coats.
