BERGHAUS HEAVY FLEECE - ZIPS INTO LARGER JACKETS - GOOD RANGE OF COLOURS AND SIZES FROM SMALL TO XXL - DEAL IS FOR DISCOUNT CARD HOLDERS - CAN BE DELIVERED FOR £5.95 - A DISCOUNT CARD COSTS £4

Berghaus Spectrum Interactive Men's Fleece Jacket:

Made using Berghaus' AWL 200 fabric, (this is the heavier of their standard fleeces) the Spectrum IA offers great versatility - it can be worn by itself, or zipped into a Berghaus InterActive shell for extra warmth and protection.

A durable pill resistant finish keeps this jacket looking better for longer, while its quick drying properties make it easy to care for.

A deep, snug neck offers further protection from the elements, and an elasticated hem will keep cold out and heat in. The two hand warmer pockets also give you great storage and warmth, or ventilation if you need it.

With a high warmth to weight ratio, the Spectrum IA provides warmth and comfort on cold winter days, and is superb for walks and any light activity.

A classic, basic and versatile piece, good for use on the hill or around home and town.

The link takes you to both jackets - so you can select male or female.

Yes - but for £4 you will save a fortune over the year.

Also - the £4 card is cheaper than postage - and even if you only buy that one jacket - counting both the jacket and card price combined - you are still saving 40%.

Could somebody enlighten me as to what "Interactive Yes" means in the context of a fleece?
#10
Hi Stompa

It means that you can turn it into the lining of a thick anorak by combining it with a waterproof jacket which is sold separately. I have something similar. The fleece and the outer bit connect up using zips.

It also means you can have thinner or sleeveless fleeces as the liners for other jackets - varying the number of uses and combinations for jackets.

It also means if you are not intending to use them on theor own - you are stuck with the same brand - so all the zips match.

Thats good to know - as i had been thinking about getting a Nuptse Down but was put off by thinking the zips differed. Have some rep.

Are sizes standardised then? I'd quite like one of these for my Lowe Alpine coat, but can I assume it will fit?

Thanks

Berghaus zip in system is called '1A' if i remember. Interactive items will have this label on.

Thanks, but I guess what I'm really after is whether they're standardised across different manufacturers?

Are you sure it's "1A" or IA = Inter Active?

All I can tell you for certain is that my "The North Face Fleece" is compatible with a Berghaus Gore-Tex coat (model Corniche I think) and also compatible with a Mountain Equipment Gore-Tex coat....which is also compatible with a Berghaus fleece (logically). I haven't been up close to a Lowe Alpine coat since last century, so I can't tell you if they're compatible/interactive or not.

I also have a Karrimor fleece that is definately not interactive, the teeth of the zip are bigger, therefore it won't zip into any of my coats. I'm not saying that ALL Karrimor fleeces aren't interactive, just the one that I own. It was bought a few years ago when chunky fleeces became a bit of a fashion item.

I must point out though, that interactive zips are great when you're posing around the city, like a BBC reporter, in the middle of winter and you want a thick but breathable smart coat. However, out on the hill I NEVER zip a fleece and a coat together.

great deal! can't fault berghaus products. will be going here tomorrow

Picked up two tonight at Coatbridge. Mens are available in only dark blue and black - but quite a few colours for wummin.

They easily had over 200 men's in stock - and perhaps slightly fewer women's.

Thanks, it sounds as though I really need to try it out in a shop rather than simply hoping for the best!

The next time I am in the shop - which will probably be the weekend - I will ask which jackets are compatible.

These jackets seem to be slightly larger than normal sizes - as I am normally XL or XXL - but with just a Tshirt on an L was a good but slightly tight on the chest fit.
