Vegetarian sausages? I only eat ones with a minimum 75% meat.
#3
May sound dumb question but what do they taste like. Do they taste like sausages or a mixture of veg just my boy is a very very fussy eater but will eat sausages if he likes them does taste test and thought if these taste like sausages it may be a way of getting him to eat this kind of food..

My wife and daughter are both veggies and eat these, although i think they are awefull.
I tend to cook them in a sauce or gravy to give it more taste, nowt like real sausages mind (of course).

I don't really get it, why would a vegetarian wanna eat sausages, ones that don't taste as good at that.
#6
this is the only vegi sausage that really tastes like normal sausages, i used to have a cafe and people would leave them on the plate when i asked why they didnt believe they were vegie
#7
listen linda may not have been a good singer but she was damn good at making sausages

That there is just the weirdest comment. Why would a vegetarian want to eat meat free sausages that taste like normal sausages?

maybe urrrhhh if you were a meat eater and turned vegi or maybe you dont like all the crap that goes in meat sausages

I think these are the best veggie sausages. It's not about having them similar to meat it's a lifestyle thing, lots of meals are designed with sausages in mind or need something to go along side your vegetables that isn't veg. Filling and interesting taste imo.

The McCartneys.
What a load of tosh. Dear old Paul "If I had all the money in the world it wouldn't be enough" sold the brand to Heinz first chance he got. I wonder how much they're being paid to keep up the pretence of Linda's legacy? :(

For what it's worth, my missus reckons that Morrisons Glamorgan are the best veggie sausages.

I dont rate these. Much prefer Quorn.

Cauldron lincolnshires knock the pants off these and quorn. Good price though.

Can't believe anyone would ever think these were sausage meat. They taste like cardboard.

health benefits over regular sausages? lower in fat / saturates / cholesterol / salt ?
#20
These sausages are good but the Linda McCartney frozen burgers are even better - taste VERY like regular burgers - especially the new ones with added mozzarella. On a warm ciabatta with some sauteed onions and mushrooms with some bbq sauce they go down a treat!
#21
These are very good sausages and I find if you overcook them in the oven i.e. so the outer is very hard then they taste even more like the real thing!

Quorn is so much nicer in my opinion. The mince and the burgers especially!
#23
Good deal if you like these but I've tried tthem and think they hardly taste of anything as does most of the Linda McCartney range i've tried. Even the Quorn ones taste better than these and that's saying something.

Because they're not made out of animals?

Finally a bargain for vegetarians. :D

These sausages are made by Heinz who now own the brand name and, in my opnion, are awful. The only ones which I like less are the Quorn ones - not a wind up just my version of what I dislike. Wouldn't eat either if they were free.

What I do like and do sincerely think are the best veggie sausages on the planet are Cauldron Brand Lincolnshire sausages which, when cooked to perfection, are a delight to the tastebuds, particularly when supported by homemade mash and onion gravy. I like them so much that my mouth started watering as I typed that sentence.

Sorry, just noticed your post Lefty and am 100% in agreement as my own post attests.

these have long been known in our household as linda mccartney saltsages... for obvious reasons...

quorn sausages are nicer, but still have a slightly odd taste. cauldron ones are probably the best veggie sausages, but they have a price tag to match.

agree about the lm veggie quarter pounder though... absolutely delicious!

Did anyone see Lewis Hamilton spitting out that alcohol-free ‘champagne’ which could not even fizz at the last F1 Abu Dhabi GP? What a celebration it was.

Maybe it is late and I’m drunk but that is just pathetic. ‘Lifestyle choice’ – WTF – call it ‘condition’, that is what it is. Yes, please practice whatever religion/craze/etc. you choose to – it is your body
.
But please do not call those things ‘as good as real, yummy, delicious’. Or next I’ll be vegie bacon and coloured gelatine eggs and they will indeed taste as good as real. And I’d hate to eat those because it is against my ‘lifestyle choice’.

It puzzles me why anybody would willingly want to become a vegetarian. Meat just tastes too good to give. It's laughable to see the amount of vegetarian food that tries to mimic its meat counter-part. So you've given up meat for whatever silly reason and yet you buy food that looks and at times tastes tastes like the real deal. It all seems rather pointless to me. It's fine for adults to make the 'lifestyle' choice to become vegetarian but I hate parents that force that choice on their young children.

Why don't people leave vegetarians alone? There are several reasons why people give up meat. Firstly, buying vegetarian 'meat' products are not only a good source of protein, they add substance to a meal. Also these are great alternatives when at events like BBQ's and parties. Also, as someone stated before, some people do not feel comfortable with the concept of eating animals and disagree with the way some animals are kept. Many people also do it for health reasons. In any case there is no need to judge other people and call it silly and pointless. Some things can be quite offensive and I think the principle of 'if you can't say anything positive, then don't say anything at all' should apply here.

try not to be so sensitive if2809, sounds like most of the comments are just a little teasing about, making food for vegetarians that looks like meat. not a mass attack on veggies.

Don't like the taste of these at all. Taste salty and a bit bland otherwise, quorn products taste much better.

What a silly comment. The main reason people are vegetarian is because they do not want to eat carcases of innocent dead animals who have been slaughtered for their meat because there is a demand for it. The alternative might not taste as good but you can live on it guilt free.

Best decision I ever made, giving up vegetarianism. Do not miss this pretend food at all.
