I just hate black for a laptop!
#2
been lookin for a similar spec laptop for a couple of weeks and this is the best price ive seen. sold!

I managed to get the 2GB version with free battery upgrade for £376 - less Quidco. I realize the 6400 at £411 is probably a better deal but got to draw a line somewhere!
Thanks Mike T. your efforts are really appreciated

Is the ATI chip any good for 3D gaming (like HL2, BF2 on moderate settings)?

yes, I did until I realised how easily the white/silver Dell inspirons scratch. Mine is beginning to look quite tatty after a year. Black for my next one, methinks - unless the scrathes in that come out in silver! :?

This deal expired? Getting £376.07 here

£376.07 still seems like a good price to me for what you are getting. I am considering this one just undecided about Vista or XP :?

With these "business laptops" what do I do when it asks for the company name?

Sounds like your on the Small business web pages, clicking through from the OP will take you to the Dell Home pages and you just checkout as a normal retail customer.

Does anyone have a preference on choosing XP or Vista with this spec of Vostro - I have heard so many horror stories about Vista and Dell recently?

I will want to play games like half life 2, cod 1&2, doom - hopefully the integrated graphics can handle this :)

I used the list on the other Vostro 1000 thread (the long one that reached 600%)

It was a site so that when you recieved your laptop with Vista it ran few some things to undo so that your Ltp processer would run faster.

i did all the checks and mine is running fine, Vista is nice altho im really not using it to its full at the moment coz iv got most of its function switched off

hehe
