Haven't they sold out online though? So it's a case if your local shop has any stock

Maybe, but my order is in the post. Just stating that I thought it was a better deal than this. But then again, I dont think any game is a bargain over £20... they're all over priced in the first place.

Yeah the signature edition is a better offer if people can get hold of one. Am tempted to check my local store to see if they have any and trade in the standard edition but don't really play on it that much so not sure what to do yet

This whole jailbreak thing is total over reaction its been happening for months , it must be a slow news day today or something . Sony just release updates that block these things until the next hack or whatever . I couldnt be bothered with the not being able to play online aspect of it as thats what i enjoy most about gaming these days .
With the deals i get on games here on HUKD for new and used games I feel no need to do this . I can thanks to a deal posted last year rent out any new game for £1 for 7 days so get any decent single player games that way and buy only games like BFBC2 , GT5 , Battlefield Vietnam etc because i know i get in some cases 100's of hours of gameplay whereas something like Vanquish as excellent as it is would be a crazy buy for me .

You need to do some more reading (if you're interested) as jailbreaking will soon be a thing of the past, the PS3 has been blown wide open as hackers have found all the keys required to pass "our" own software off as theirs as Sony haven't been very bright!

For those of you looking for the Signature edition I picked up mine from Gamestation (Instore) the other day for £49.98. I got £30 trade in for my standard edition too! :D

People need to realise something about these thieving companies, they make so much money off people stupid amounts of money. The recent sony hack enabling the ps3 to be hacked left right and center was no doubt released by sony itself, to boost sales for run upto christmas and have realised nintendo were outselling them by pulling this same move a years ago with the ds. Last year the wii was hackable very easily without having to chip the console. Now sony the greedy **** have pulled the same stunt. £10 is a fair price for any game, anything more than that you are being robbed. I reluctantly paid more the the cod series games as i like playing online, will wait till this game is a tenner.
#18
Good game, good price unless you're willing to wait.

It is true, Unencrypted EBOOT for GT5 now available that will run on 3.41 Firmware.

You are quite correct in that copying is not theft though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeTybKL1pM4

No, European too.

No it's not.

Post/pm a link to where it's been proven and i'll apologise, but it's US only at the moment....and even with that some are having issues with some parts of the game.

It's taken 4 years to hack, which is 3 years 11 months longer than Wii/360, so they must be reasonably bright :D
#23
I agree. This is a decent price but the Signature Edition deal is better.
But, to be honest, if you haven't got it yet just wait a month or so. It will drop rapidly

Again, you need to do some reading. It was hacked in about 12 months or a little less, some are saying might have only been a few months, there was no point in hacking it until they removed OtherOS (linux) support when the PS3 Slim was released.

The reason they're not so bright is because their random number generator generated "4" each time, so the keys were then found, not only to the PS3 but the PSP too.

I read a lot, link to prove? I've never heard anything about it. The first hack to appear used the OtherOS, that's why they removed it.

Slim was released without OtherOS support which is why GeoHot hacked at that stage (August 09 > Jan 10) because they removed it, and some people think he even had some key information back then but couldn't do anything with it. Sony then remove OtherOS support via a firmware update (April 10) after that but it was too late. PSJB team followed up with jailbreak (which some people think was based on some of what GeoHot did and also some leaked info from Sony) then fail0verflow released keys the other week, then GeoHot released the root key and now it's game over.

From being THE most secure console, the PS3 has become THE least secure ever, apart from maybe the Dreamcast, as there's nothing Sony can do about it as it's hardware-based.

Add to that that Sony kept the keys to the PSP on the PS3 as well, and now PSP homebrew development has been blown wide open as well.

#31
That's a timeframe that's been slung about but GeoHot's first hack didn't do a great deal, only something that the most technical PS3 devs could work on, but i guess it's more like 9 months till jailbreak appeared, and yes, about 12 months until now when things are really starting to happen due to the leaked keys.

I spend far too much time reading on gaming sites so im more than aware of the situation and again i'll say "I believe it when i see it" . Sony are too smart they'll just patch this out (then they'll hack it again , then they'll patch it again etc ) and yea if a few people want to use their console for single player only games from the first few years of the PS3's life then their welcome .
I dont know why the gaming sites (in particular Eurogamer gave this so much clout yesterday its just the same old same old . Next thing is we will have that industry predictor dick Michael Pachter saying that the next CoD will sell bucketloads or will be subscription based , old news dragged up again whenever its a slow news day .

Not enough time...

There is no way to patch this, the mistake is stored in a place that can't be updated without hardware changes.

Maybe not, but you'll never be able to play online, that's why they are suing GEOHOTZ, to give their engineers time to work on it, they are stalling for a workaround, which they may find.
