link working fine for me

I still find it amazing people slam posters for putting things without postage. easy error to make and to fix. In my opinion this site is about deals, not about getting things exactly right :P

:) Thanks

PITA - got one of these last year, couldn't get the chemicals right, didn't have flat enough garden, killed the grass. Enjoy!
#7
More like a blow up pond, how do you swim in it?
#8
These things are cheap but MAHOOSIVE! You will need a really big garden, and as previous poster says, if you lay it on grass (which of course is good because it will cushion the floor a bit), it will kill it. Once the pool is there, you will not move it without emptying it.
#9
is there a heater attachment available for this?
#10
I bought a pool cover from them last year and they sent the wrong size. Countless emails went ignored and I couldn't get through on the phone. I eventually gave up as the cover was only £10.
Buy it elsewhere even if you end up paying a couple of quid more because this company are simply not interested.
#11
I wonder how good the filter is...?
#12
Strange - shipping is £5.98 for me, making it £31.47 all in all!!

Not complaining tho - a decent price :)

I have one of these with a heater.

Waste of money grass killing fly pit of a pool carbuncle on my garden.

And you'd get more heat in the pool if you pis**d in it.

I am the Managing Director of iShop Ltd who own ActiveToys.co.uk and have checked our online order records for your name and have no record of an order from you last year or the year before. We do take customer care very seriously and would welcome the chance to make things right if indeed you ordered from us at all. Please post your order number here or contact me directly at [email protected]">[email protected] and i promise you a immediate answer.

Brought one two years ago the filter lasted about two days. I had to return the whole damm pool to B&Q to get exchange. The filter didn't work at all last year but couldn't do anything with it as gareentee had run out. Good price for a pool of this size tho.
#17
Although these pools do have a filter pump chemicals (chlorine) is required to keep the water sanitized. The addition of algaecide will ensure that the pool does not turn green. The filter pump is designed to remove solids suspended in the water and will NOT stop the water turning green. It is also important to keep the Ph correct by adding either Ph+ or Ph- an ideal Ph would be in the region of 6.8. A pool of this size does require a little effort to keep clean, at least every other day whether you use the pool or not. They are worth the effort during the hot period but often neglected when cooler and that is when problems arise with green or cloudy water.

LOLOLOL . I bet you turned yours and next doors gardens into swamps emptying it too . :w00t: . Voting hot though as it is a good deal .

i bought one last year, far more trouble than they are worth imo. All respect to op.

By the time you buy it. filters. chemicals. covers and spend all the time cleaning it and getting chemicals right. Even on the hottest day its still quite cold in there.

Ive got a heater as well but could not afford to run the damn thing.

i cleaned mine everyday and balanced it and yet it still went green! and used algacide.

SO you could not read the instuctions on the chemicals, cant be bothered to level your garden and thought grass can live with no light anyway?? I can see why this should get voted cold, for the company not knowing how level your garden was, that you cant read instuctions and do not know what grass needs to live...... only joking i know what you mean i put mine on the concrete paving slabs i have and its great :)
#21
cracking deal!!! if u set these up correctly and use the right chemicals, they;re great on a hot summers day.

mine lasted for 3 summers before the size split!! (a very impressive sight watching all that water flood out, how it didn't kill everything i dont know lol/
#22
If the chemicals were strong enough to kill the grass and shrubs you would probably have all bleach blonde kids. The chlorine is only supposed to be between 2 and 3 ppm. This level wont harm your garden or your kids.
#23
I also was duped in to this hot deal last year. Used it once on the day of inflation and filling, which by the time was complete it was nearly evening lol.

Whilst these are good deals, practicality issues need addressing first, then time and effort to maintain it all summer.

Finally remember, the ground has to be completely flat. Any small bump in the ground will lob-side the walls of the pool when filling up.
#24
my kids love theirs, takes about 3 hours to fill.
#25
Excellent price for a piece of kit totally inappropriate to the UK for all the reasons given and more. If you're on a water meter it'll cost you a fortune to fill it too.

Hot deal - cold product (in more ways than one).
#26
We have one and it is great. We have had it for 3/4 years now and get it out IF the summer arrives. We are on a water meter but it actually doesn't cost too much. We have even filled it with hot water (hose attached to hot tap in kitchen) on a few occasions and had a few amazing parties - stayed hot well into the early hours. We put ours on the decking so flat surface and empting it takes some time to ensure you don't create a swamp in your garden. The chemical balance is obviously very important but worth it! Voted hot!

As you say it's easy to fix - (but the poster hasn't yet ;-)) [Has now - thanks man ] - posters should never be 'slammed' just politely reminded, however why should we all have to open the post and do the math when it's a few seconds effort for the poster to fix?

Hot deal though

OK it'll kill the grass, collect flies, take lots of water - but my neices and nephews had a similar one for a couple of years before it bust and had endless fun :-D even though their hair occasionally went green when the chlorine mix went wrong :p - definitely need to sort out a cover (preferably insulated) - and if possible keep it away from drunken adults...
#28
You must have deep pockets if you seriously filled yours up with hot water  they take at least 4 hours to fill .
You can get a floater and chemical tablets (which last 3 weeks)on ebay and a skimmer from b+ q or toys r us . Its quite relaxing skimming the pool after a boiling hot summers day (though not many the last couple of years.) and you might get away with 6 weeks with out refilling it .
Another tip is get a piece of waste pipe and attach it between the two flexible hoses to drain most of the water out into a nearby drain

I bought one from Woolworths by post before they went bust for £25. Set it up on our patio, used the right chemicals, and it was great for the summer. Those who complain about how much it costs to heat, or how little good their heater did for it, are misguided, we're talking here about a lot of water so it WILL take a fair time, and cost to heat an uninsulated pool. Also due to its construction, you DO have to have a level base for it. Buy it for what it is, not for the professional pool costing thousands of pound some of you seem to expect

The filter is what you'd expect for something like this, cleans out particles/insects/leaves that are suspended in the water and the replacement filters fairly cheap and easy to get. Emptying is easy with a hose, as mentioned, and you should really get some sort of net, and/or suction cleaner for the top and bottom of the pool. It sits outdoors, at the mercy of the winds and anything blown about in them.

For less than the cost of a couple of visits by the family to the swimming pool, you;re getting a nice addition to the summer fun at home.

lol. :-D Are you serious?? You expect me to have kept an order number for a cheapo pool cover for almost a year?? One that didn't even fit!! I'll send you my address etc. and I can tell you that the order was placed between the 3rd week in May and the 2nd week in June 2009.

The order was for a rectangular cover (10'x6') The sizes on the box were correct but the cover inside was a smaller size. This was pointed out in a series of polite emails which received no reply.

It's a bit late to play the customer care card now and that's only happening because you've spotted a negative comment on a public forum. You even have the brass neck to suggest that I didn't place an order at all on the grounds that you searched your records for somebody called yipykayay!! Says it all for me. PM sent.

I have been using these types of pools for about 5 years. 1st pool lasted 4 years before the side gave way.
Couple of hints
Make sure you have enough room for these pools on a solid level ground, grass is o.k but it will destroy it.
I am in the Swindon area and I only use Chlorine to keep the pool clean and with the test strips you can't go wrong.
After heavy use give the pool a good shock treatment of Chlorine and clean the filter with a hose every 2 days.
I use a micro mesh fishing net to remove any muck from the pool and leave filter running as long as poss.
The pool will be too cold to get in for the 1st 2 or 3 days until the sun has worked its magic then hey presto enjoy the pool with the kids.
A great game we play with the kids is.. get inside the pool run around the outside as close to the sides as possible this causes a whirlpool which you then just sit down and the current takes you around the pool the kids love it!
Our pool stays up for 3 months.
If the above is too much for you don't get one.

despite my negative comments im tempted again now lol.

I have sent you a refund on your item, £5 voucher. There is no need to be sarcastic I was just trying to put things right if indeed we had made a mistake. We do offer a full money back guarantee on everything. Any customer can send back any item that was incorrect or not wanted. The cover was obviously for a Bestway Coral Reef Pool as stated on the site. If your pool was not from Bestway I can understand it not fitting. We sell 1000's of Bestway items every year and they are extremely reliable.

As for public complaints, you are right I don't like them and as Managing Director the buck lies with me when I see this sort of thing. Despite your negative comments we have sold over 40 pools from this site already, most will arrive today, for which I am very grateful. In these tough times every order is important to us and we do our best to satisfy everyone were possible.

I do hope that you accept my apologies and the voucher that I have sent you.

Thanks and apology accepted. I might actually re-order the same item as I didn't get round to it again last year
I do feel however that the sarcasm was started in your post when you said "if indeed you ordered from us at all"
My pool is a Bestway. The cover I recieved was obviously made for their smaller pool which is 7.5 feet long. It was packed in the wrong box. Mistake at the factory I expect. These things happen.
I am aware of your returns policy. The relevant part states "If you have received a defective item, you should contact us within 14 days of receiving the item so that we can advise you whether to return it". That's exactly what I tried to do. If someone had responded to my emails, I would have received a full refund including postage or, preferably, a replacement.
The original post, which has now been edited, asked if anyone had any experience of dealing with Activetoys because the OP had never heard of them. I simply related my experience which, unfortunately wasn't good.
If I am asked again, I will be able to say that my problem was sorted by the MD:thumbsup:
