Looks like a great deal. Total value = £139.96, so still in profit even if you happen to lose your entire £50 deposit.
I've checked the terms and can't see anything untoward? If you don't want to continue the ESPN subscription, you need to give 30-days cancellation notice otherwise you'll be charged for the fourth month onward.
I can't see anything in the terms about not being able to bet in-play, so if a team is winning by a fairly big margin with 15 or so minutes left then chuck the £50 on the win?

"We at 188BET have teamed up with ESPN and Top-Up Tv to offer you 3 months FREE ESPN plus a 250gb Freeview+ Digital TV recorder. All you have to do to receive all this is register a new account and place a bet or a combination of bets totalling £50 or more throughout November.

Click 'REGISTER AND BET NOW' and sign up for a new account. Then visit http://www.188promo.com/espn, enter your details and place a bet or a combination of bets totalling £50 or more throughout November.

All existing 188BET customers need to do is simply click 'BET NOW', enter your details in the form that appears, then place a bet or a combination of bets totalling £50 or more throughout November.

There is no prize draw or complicated entry systems. As soon as you have followed the above steps you will receive 3 months ESPN and your Freeview+ box within one working week!"

Seems like a great deal...thanks!!!

Can anyone see why you couldn't place your £50 bet in play on a football team who are a couple up with seconds to go?
#3
This looks really promising. Might give it a go.

The only thing in the terms and conditions that I am a bit unsure of is this....

9. If Top Up TV can not contact you you will not be sent a FREE Digital TV Recorder or benefit from the 3 Free months of ESPN.

Hmm, I wonder how hard they'll try. Two rings and hang up? lol.

Still. It's hot from me.

Is this too good to be true....?

Sounds very good considering a lot of people (including myself) bet on the footy weekly.

Put a few bankers on (yes I know there's never a banker in reality - lets say a 'potential' reliable bet) and get this for free!

Some sites leave markets open until the last five minutes, no matter what the score. Some will close them as soon as a side goes two up. Guess it depends on what the site does.

This offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other 188BET promotion, e.g. Free £25 bet.

But its available to existing members. So why can't you take advantage of the free bet, become an existing member and then take advantage of this offer? Surely a fair few existing members would have started via a free bet?

Existing ESPN customers are excluded from this promotion.

eh? Guess that's me out then (see below)

Hot deal if you are after a freeview box - Any idea of brand / RRP / ebay resell value? (Have a V+ box with ESPN already)

do any sites offer cashback for signing up?

As in i think that you have to bet £50 out of your own money and thus the £25 free bet cannot be included as part of that £50.

Anyway i think thats what it means

You can place the £50 bet, then 'match' the bet on betfair. For instance, you beat on a team to win, then you go on betfair and 'lay' that very same bet by saying they won't win. You'll end up losing about £4 because of the difference in odds but I suppose that's better than risking the £50 - the things you'll receive are well worth it.

I'll post what you need to do in more detail late if anyone wants.

Why do ESPN keep adding 'FC' to Liverpool?
Is it because they're American and don't have a clue about football, I mean soccer?

Good deal tho, I'm interested.

yes please could you post.

Although could you not just wait till the last minute of a football game and then bet your money? And then this would significantly reduce the risk of losing the money

Because Liverpool full club name is Liverpool FC, nothing to do with being american, lol

BTW does the set top box need a subscription to record like sky boxes do?

YEAH
If they're 1.05 that means that if you put £43 on then you'd win 2.15 plus your stake - DO YOU get your stake back?

There's no mention in the T&Cs, however, from my experience, it's only free bets that you sometimes don't get your stake back (SNR).

Can anyone see a catch yet?

Does this company charge to withdraw funds because another one I found charged atleast £5 to withdrew and up £12.

Hehe. I was more looking at doing 5x £10 'safe' bets, as it's more fun that way. I'd possibly lose 1 if I was unlucky, but to lose all 5 when the odds are like that..

If you all go for my Barcelona one, don't come lynching me if it goes wrong X)

I do like the idea of hedging it across all possible result though as I'd know my maximum loss. It's just not as much fun for me.
#32
Just lay the bet off at ebay, I suspect you will be tied into a contract with ESPN, and it will be a pain to get out of it

Kindly wait for our customer relationship officer to respond. You are currently 1 in the queue

I am Hannaica Fords, how may I assist you?

Your Issue ID for this chat is LTK***************

Hannaica Fords: Hi there.

Hannaica Fords: How may I help you?

ANDREW: hI I'D LIKE TO CONFIRM THAT I AM REGISTERED FOR THE FREE ESPN AND FREEVIEW BOX PROMOTION BEFORE I PLACE MY BETS

ANDREW: I'd also like you to confirm that if I place a bet on odds of 1.05 for every £1 bet i would get £1.05 back

Hannaica Fords: I'd be more than glad to assist you with that particular concern.

Hannaica Fords: For verification purposes, may I confirm if your member ID is ******?

ANDREW: correct

Hannaica Fords: Thank you for the confirmation of your member ID.

Hannaica Fords: Please note that, Everyone who registers a 188BET account and places bets totalling at least £50 at http://www.188bet.com via http://www.188promo.com/espn between 08th November 2010 and 30th November 2010 will receive a Top Up TV Freeview+ Digital TV Recorder free, along with three months free ESPN.

Hannaica Fords: With regard to your odds concern, may we ask you to clarify your concern further?

Hannaica Fords: Please do respond so we can continue on assisting you with your concern.

ANDREW: i just want to confirm that i would get my stake back in this promotion as well as the winnings. as some promotions you do not get your stake back. Whilst I appreciate you copying the details for the promotion, I was looking for clarification that your system had recognised my registration.

Hannaica Fords: Please note that you are already registerd fro this one.

Hannaica Fords: But please make sure that, you will have to place bets totalling at least £50 at http://www.188bet.com via http://www.188promo.com/espn between 08th November 2010 and 30th November 2010 will receive a Top Up TV Freeview+ Digital TV Recorder free, along with three months free ESPN.

Hannaica Fords: We regret but there is no stake refund for this promotion.

ANDREW: No I think you miss my point. If I place a £50 bet on odds of 1.05 how much will be returned?

Hannaica Fords: Let me check further.

Hannaica Fords: May I please put you on hold for one to two minutes while I check on your query?

ANDREW: thats fine, can you also confirm if there is a charge to withdraw funds if I win or any minimum withdrawl

Hannaica Fords: Thank you.

Hannaica Fords: I apologize to have kept you waiting and thank you for patiently holding.

Hannaica Fords: Please note that 50 x 1.05 -50 will be returned.

Hannaica Fords: Also may we ask for what method you will prefer to use for your withdrawal?

Hannaica Fords: Please do respond so we can continue on assisting you with your concern.

ANDREW: £50 x 1.05 = what in £'s?

Hannaica Fords: 50 x 1.05 -50 = GBP 2.5

ANDREW: so a £50 win bet @ odds of 1.05 would only return £2.50 in total so the original £50 stake is not returned at all?

Hannaica Fords: Yes, Andrew.

Hannaica Fords: That is correct.

ANDREW: Then this is a very poor promotion.

Hannaica Fords: May we confirm the withdrawal method you are referring to?

ANDREW: bank

Hannaica Fords: I mean the method for your withdrawal request?

Hannaica Fords: We are sorry to hear that.

ANDREW: it doesnt matter now, thanks anyway. Wont be taking any further part

Hannaica Fords: We are regretful for we were not able to meet your expectations.

Hannaica Fords: However, we will be glad if you will deposit with us for you to start betting with us.

ANDREW: I bet you would....

I cant believe you wouldn't get your stake back-in other words you pay near enough full price for the box and then get 3months free espn and the whole hassle of having to cancel it

Where in the T&C's does it say you don't get your stake back ??

I don't generally do betting, but isn't it standard practice to get back your stake in addition to the winnings ?
