In Asda Leith (Edinburgh) today and spotted Betty Crocker Traditional Pancake Mix and Aunt Bessie's Shake to Make pancake mix (both are the kind that you add water to the bottle, shake, and the batter is ready).
Both reduced to 10p (original price of both seems to be £1.49 - maybe someone could confirm?)), lots in stock, and best before date is 2015. From the shelf label they said it's probably national.

I haven't tried this yet but if it's easy to make it gets my vote! :) I like Betty Crocker and Aunt Bessie's products so thought that both these would be fine.

Edinburgh isn't as nice as it was, sadly. They've really messed things up with the ill-fated tram project and with very bad management of the city, which is sad to see :( Leith is very much an area of contrasts - some very nice parts and a lot of new money, and some very poor parts and no money at all.)
Asda Leith is a bit of a misnomer because it's actually in Newhaven, not Leith (in my opinion anyway!). Good place for cheap pancake mix though! :p

pancake mix is only flour, eggs and milk how easy is that! Make it fresh no additives or powdered egg and milk no waste of plastic.

1-2 eggs, 4oz plain flour, half pint of milk...add the eggs to the flour with a little of the milk and mix to a paste then add the rest in slowly.

If you are just getting round to binning it after several years, then WHY are you going to restock as you obviously don't use it...? :D Sounds a bit like me with certain 'just in case' things! :p

It is easy enough but it's even easier to add water and shake! At 10p also much cheaper too. Some people (i.e. me) just aren't into the whole cooking/baking thing so anything which is quick and easy is good. I do bake banana loaf occasionally but it's a pain with flour and mess so a ready mix is much easier.

One of the best quotes I heard was from Carla Connor in Coronation Street - "If it's food and you make it hot then that's cooking"....a woman after my own heart!

agree some people aren't much for preparing food etc so things like this is win,win myself i absolutely love cooking things and the whole cooking experiences not very good as just starting out but i find it fascinating

Tried this last year, tasted bogging, pancakes were like rubber

OK heat for the price but you have to be either seriously dim or extremely lazy if you can't make your own pancake mix.

These are really not very pleasant.

It's really not hard to make pancake batter - let's not be lazy people!

Haha, just checked your profile....I just KNEW you were a fellow Scot when you used that great Scottish word 'bogging'!! :p I've not had anything from Betty Crocker that I haven't liked, so hopefully these will be ok as well :)
