BHS mainly sells poor-quality, overpriced tat made in far eastern sweatshops. Factories have closed all over the UK thanks to Philip Green.

BHS is owned by the Green family. Mrs Green moved to Monaco from London so the family could avoid paying tax on the profits of the business. Mrs Green has received dividends in excess of £1 billion yet has paid ZERO income tax on them. This money has left the UK forever.

Most of the BHS staff are paid wages around the legal minimum, so UK plc is forced to spend a small fortune on child and family tax credits to make these derisory wages up to a living wage while receiving little back. UK plc provides the financial, educational, legal, defence and health systems and all the other infrastructure which allows the Green family businesses to operate. Green takes but puts next to nothing back, which means services are cut and we pay more tax.

Buy something well made from a family that will contribute to this country and pays decent wages and pensions to its staff.
