Thanks for this.
I bought my dad one like this for Christmas but it wouldn't work.
Will try this one.
Nipped out to my local Maplins in Harlow and got one.
One more left in store if anyone is interested.

Link not working for me.

First thing... it is TRULY enormous, they don't kid when they say big buttons!

Unless it has learning capability, I wouldn't bother. It's not clear from the info, but it says "Replaces most common functions " which means it won't do EVERYTHING, so I suspect not.

Why is that funny.
I can imagine this being a Godsend to some elderly people.

Do you think a lot of elderly people use this site?

1. Yes. Why not?
2. It's just a quote from the remote's feature list I copied and pasted, it applies to the outdoors world too.
3. Some elderly or partially sited people have been known to venture out to the shops, they might stumble upon it there.
4. Word of mouth.
5. Gift idea? Jumpingphil bought this remote for his Dad.

i just saw these in store and am going to buy one for me (elderly) mum :)
#12
You can pick up similar (non backlit) models for £6 (have seen them in cheap shops, possibly inc B&Ms). Not voting, but not hot for me...

That sounds like what I originally bought for my elderly, partially sighted Dad.
Don't know why that sounds funny, but there you go.
I got that one working on my new telly but I couldn't get it to work on my Dad's telly, which is also new, so it went back.
I got one of these today and will be round to my Dad's house tomorrow to see if works there.
I think the idea behind these is superb for people like my Dad 'cos the buttons on a regular remote can be very small and close together.
Let's hope some people never have to experience old age and failling eyesight and therefore won't have a need for these funny things. :whistling:

Being disabled myself, and no stranger to varying abuse from those who should know better, I do get a certain satisfaction knowing and telling them that such people always end up that way themselves, eventually they get the message - unless of course they come into the other category - the alternative to old age and infirmity is to die when you are young and fit, and that's not exactly good news either! :whistling:

Watch what you say... The "Silver Surfers" are out there and growing in number!!!
#16
Jumpingphil, was the remote ok?
#17
Like the other one I bought, It is very good for people who would find it hard to control a normal sized one.
And, like the other one, this one worked my telly perfectly OK but would not work my Dad's new Grundig telly.
For what this is and for the price, I would definitely recommend this as it probably works with most tellys. And you can always take it back if it doesn't.
#18
Nice one thanks - it's a shame that your Dad's new TV doesn't like it.

It's a pain, the different remote codes thing. Especially when the same manufacturer changes the remote codes on different model TVs. I've never understood why.
#19
This product is clearly HOT as all it says in the tab at the top of my browser when i open it is "Big Butt"
#20
I got my Dad this as part of his Xmas... We ran into problems getting it to work with his Sky+ box.. Hopefully it was lack of time on our part... I've not had the chance to try it again - anyone have any luck?

Regards,
Gerard

If you still have the remote, it might be worth trying codes for Matsui TVs, as in my experience they sometimes work for Grundig TVs.

You sir, are a twerp of the first order! I hope you never suffer loss of your sight, (I am partially sighted by the way) but, if you survive the enraged attacks from others who find your remarks as offensive as I do, you will become elderly. I hope then that you look back on your "LOL" of today and regret it. :x

Grundig - avoid imho

How on earth is calling this a funny thing abuse? I'm an engineer, if soneone described a soldering iron as a funny thing I wouldn't take it as abuse.
#30
I'm sure lots of elderly people use this site (I'm 57 so still young) :p and some people like large remotes and buttons.
#31
Not bad I suppose if you don't mind looking at the control every time you change channel or adjust the volume.
#32
Does anyone know if this works with Sky+ boxes? I bought my mum one like this but with normal buttons and it worked the TV but not Sky+ - she suffers from hand tremors so has trouble using normal sized buttons.
#33
i like having lots of remotes i means the missus doesnt know how to use our setup and i can watch what i want LOL
#34
Work with Virgin V+ Boxes??
#35
Has anyone got a manual for this that they can scan or photo the pages - got the remote - which appears to work - no manual
Thx for any help
