#2
Many people may be sceptical about this deal but new travel dates are only released tomorrow.
Airasia usually have good deals when they release new dates.

Andy5and - can I ask a couple of questions?

Was the £255 price you got from London to KL a oneway or return price?

Can you 'add-on' prices on the website? We want to go to Langkawi in Malaysia in Jan 2011.

What was you experience of AirAsia? How do they compare to Malaysian Airlines or similar long haul carriers? I ask because while I like my bargains, the wife gets nervous about delays & little things not being able to get a drink of water.

If this checks out, I think I'm going to go for this!

Thanks

It was £225 return and we got back 2 weeks ago.
That price includes add ons of 15kg luggage and in flight meals.
We could have payed a little more for extra luggage either 20kg or 25kg.
From KL we had 10 days in Bali costing £30 each return, again 15kg of luggage no meals.
Meals on this flight cost £2 each.
I have never had a flight with Malaysian Airlines and probably never will due to the
high cost.
Cost about £300 more per person with Malaysian Airlines and the only bonus you get is free drinks.

Worth clarifying what exactly the £2 flights are?

It's certainly not the London ones that your post implies.

just to add we got flights for 210 return last year stanstead to KL and they a were great service , but it is a long 13 hr flight do remember to get up and walk around a bit , and if you are on the larger size either in build or height do check if the seat foot area is enough , my bf who is of the bigger build found it a bit crampt but for the price he put up with it .... The service was good as the toilets were cleaned regually and the customer service on board was good - we would go again

-Got the notification email today - 2 GBP fares are between KL and either Langkawi or Penang
-I got my return flights last year in October/November - 15kg luggage and no food for £183
-Outgoing plane was not ready yet (not built?) so they chartered an air mauritius plane - which meant i got food
-There are portable media players on board you can rent for a fee
-Nothing bad to say - obviously its no a380 but it doesn't feel "budget"
#24
No good deals yet- London to KL,cheapest £378 return.
Maybe it will change.

Can I ask one more question?

We want to fly Stansted to KL and then KL to Langkawi (both with AirAsia). When you check-in at Stansted, will AirAsia check your luggage directly through to the final destinagtion or do you need to pick up your cases at KL and check them back in again?

It would be best if you booked a room for the night in KL and fly out to Langkawi the following day. It's always possible that there could be flight delays.
This hotel is really cheap http://www.tunehotels.com/LCCTTransit_KualaLumpur_Malaysia.aspx
The hotel above is a 2 minute walk from the airport.
If you want to explore KL for the day it costs £3 return on the shuttle bus.
If you take both flights on the same day you would collect your baggage and check in again.

Yeah I can see the outward flight is at the price quoted - just can't get back again!
*sigh*

Andy5and - many thanks for the info.
#31
Grrr I was hoping the London - KL would be around £260 return like last year. But like you say its £378, we are planning on going to Thailand we so need to factor in flights to Krabi also. Anyone found any below £300 for a return?
#32

Click on the tab GO TO DEAL.
How difficult can that be?

You're a funny guy.

Like the others have said, this is stone cold.

Very limited route availability for £2.

NONE to/from the UK, ergo it is not a UK deal.

How difficult can it be for you to read the URL of this website?

Andy5and - useful and helpful posts.
Thank you.

If anyone is looking for reasonable accommodation I own one of the International Water homes in hotel complex in Port Dickson which has its own swimming pool. As owner I have 10 night freestay vouchers which i have no intention of using this year! Normally retails at over 100quid per night. Get in touch if interested before i put on Malaysian FleaBay!!! Only 25 minute drive from KL airport.
#36
Cant find anything under £350 return from stanstard :( anyone find anything?
#37
Not as good a deal as when they first started the London route .. it was from £99 each way then. If you are travelling outside peak periods, you can probably get it for under £500 via Emirates, Etihad or KLM. And that will include luggage, food, and entertainment.

Last year, Air Asia's deals were so good we travelled down from Manchester to catch their flights. We will fly from Manchester this year based on these prices.
#38
Could anyone explain how this works to me? I'm a bit confused, cheers.
#39
The best fare I could get during the sale period from London to Kualalampur (return) was £ 278 excluding tax.
#40
Outgoing on 20th January is £94

A number of return dates in Feb for £184
