Big Pockets.. the ironic discount store!
Why is this particular drop-shipper allowed on HUKD? It looks like a Mickey Mouse setup.

Looks can be deceiving and BigPockets have honoured some good HUKDeals recently

Terrible terrible TV. Cheap, yes. HOT, nope.

Well, you wouldn't purchase a 23" LED TV for your main TV Home Cinema experience! oO

This tv is great for bedrooms, kitchens etc and gets excellent online reviews

Great, great bargain tv - Cheap, yes - HOT @ £70.99 delivered - YUP

All of the online reviews that I've read are very favourable

I didn't say anyone should purchase this for their main TV Home cinema, did I??

I'm saying it's a terrible TV. I have a Blaupunkt TV hanging on my bedroom wall and it's the worst TV I've ever owned. The picture is bad and the sound is even worse. You can spend a little more and get a lot more.

Blaupunkt was a name associated with quality, but not anymore. It's a name badge that's slapped on cheap nasty products, exactly the same as a Tecnika or Bush. It's just a managed brand name.

It's just my well informed opinion, don't take it personally. I just wanted to warn people not to get their hopes up.

BigPockets apologized and said it was an error at their end by sending old stock. They sent me a free return postage slip, asked me to return them and resent me batteries that are in date until 2017, all done very quickly too. I have to say that I can't fault their customer service, they sorted out the problem very quickly and without any fuss. :D

So they did their legal requirement and nothing more by sending the correct product - caused hassle to you (to chase them and send outofdate batteries back) and took extra time to deliver the right product.

Yep. Can't fault their service.

That's shocking. Truly shocking. Seem's they are trying to screw people out of money because not everyone would go through the hassle of sending the batteries back
have now for a returns label!
Actually, the photograph on the advert showed an expiry date in 2018. They were listed as brand new with full manufacturers warranty.

Yeh, saying it's free delivery in the title is what made me click here. Shame it's not really.
If you need to buy another item in addition and pay for delivery then this deal is not quite as good as first appears unfortunately
how to choose the colour? it just adds (a sleeve) to the basket..it does not tell you which colour!!
For a quid it is worth it just for the neoprene -well, assuming you have a use for it. It is good for insulation for PC 'fridges' e.g. peltiers/TECs.

So stick it in your basket, you can use it as a gasket.

Bored again.

I bought these for my daughter for Xmas and they are so good better than my GHDs I have ordered a pair for myself paid £9.97 with postage but so worth it. Come in a lovely box too!
Had confirmation from Yogi that they are genuine :)
I have used mine daily since I got them, they are brilliant. They do feel cheap and flimsy but they do the job and leave my hair soft, they take seconds to heat up and I've ended up using them daily and discarding my more expensive ones. Love them.
so is everyone keeping them then? yogi has not replied to my email yet. has anyone tried them out?
dtralft2
queried with both BigPockets and yogihairwand.co.uk. With BigPockets, amongst other things asked asked why no model number and why Website on box does not exist. With Yogi provided link to item and asked for confirmation item was genuine. Got following replies:

From BigPockets:
Hello David

As far as we are aware they were a promotional marketing gift pack modelled as The Original Iron by Yogi, the reason we ended up with them means the promotion came to an end hence the website is no longer active or relevant. We ourselves do not have any more information however we can tell you they came with the rest of our Yogi stock from the same company which is the rights holder to the Yogi brand and is invoiced by them to us as Yogi The Original Iron. Consequently we have contacted them for further details and information in regards to this product and will pass on their response so you may make a decision as to the suitability of the item for yourself.
Kind Regards
Big Pockets

From Yogi:
Hi, thanks for your email. yes we can confirm the are genuine.

kind regards

Suppose if they were a promotional product it would explain the lower quality.

Is it Black Friday already?
Buyer beware...

I bought a TV from BP several weeks before they eventually went under last time, which turned out to be DOA.

I was given a return number and sent the TV back, however, every email and request for a refund/update was then completely ignored, and I had to go through paypal to eventually get my money back.

Before making any informed decision, it would be a pre-requisite to find out how any warranty is serviced, for example: is it an onsite warranty service when an engineer may turn up (whenever they get around to it), or is the customer obliged to package the TV and take / send to a random repair center?

Good point. With a large screen like this, you have to hang onto an enornous box and styrofoam bits if you have to send it back.

Hard to moan too much at that price, however it is a rebranded JMB.

http://www.umc-uk.co.uk/Manuals/JMB/46%20models/User%20guide%20-JMB%2046-188G-GB-5B-FTCU-UK.pdf

Appears to be quite an old TV as also found this...http://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=38714

I suspect you would be better off with a more modern budget TV.

Harping on I know, but it's for your own good. :) Anyone who can use this many batteries before then is pouring money down the drain by not using rechargeables.

Have some heat!
Why don't you just buy a couple of sets of rechargeables and a charger instead? Cost less than this, no need to worry about buying replacements and you're leaving less of a legacy of waste for your son to deal with.

Your right, I might just do that thanks
suited72
I've got rechargables in quite a few devices that we use regularily. The problem for them with other occasional use is that If not used for a few months their life shortens, and if left uncharged their life shortens.
You need to use the new pre-charged/ready to use/low self-discharge types: they retain 70% of their charge even if left for a year. They are not damaged at all by this.

To be honest, I reckon it's worth getting a Windows 7 upgradge if you go for this. Vista was never wonderful and seemed to cause problems most of the time (in my experience anyway!) and the investment in 7 would be well worth it IMHO.

Yes a very nice graph
I had hoped that some honest and clever person with Vista might have come forward, and agread to try windows update and report back. Less than a week ago I tried to update vista unsuccessfully, even though internet browsing was not a problem

Have you received your laptop?

Please can you upload some pics so we can see the white marks and scratches

Thank you

+1 - Curious to see what the physical condition is, as I have a mate whose considering purchasing one.

Hi
No pics as the laptop is at work, and I am at home but see comment:

It arrived today - Great laptop and 8 months warranty left if I could get it transferred....
No white marks on screen, but lid seriously scratched (I don't mind that).
I'm sending it back because the screen is poor - awful contrast and viewing angles and a bit dull and yellow around the edges.
I've now ordered:
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lenovo-e420s-thinkpad-edge-304-lenovo-outlet-1472116
Same size screen, 2nd gen 'i' processor, but a bit slower.
I wouldn't recommend the Dell.

Pay the extra ten pounds for the Tomtom brand new from amazon, Why would you buy a open box unit from this retailer just to save £10, be a foolish move.

Some people might prefer Garmin to TomTom for one, plus £10 is a huge percentage increase, maybe some people think they have better things to with £10. Personally I prefer TomTom but that doesn't mean my Garmin bike computer doesn't work as well.

Got a p4 3ghz with 1gd ram in work and all I want to do is put my fist through the screen when I use it
Some here, the majority of the production machines that were bought before my tenure are like this too, and nobody wants to replace them despite adding 1-2mins hourglass time to any common task. I convinced them to shell out £80 on a C2D-based HP workstation and people now fight like animals to use that one, rather than just paying up and replacing the lot.

Intel and their goddamn marketing department deserve a long time in the ovens for the market presence of the P4.

A great find and price but the what totally ruins it are the supported processors... the last thing I would want in a quiet HTPC are Pentium 4-class processors - the hottest, slowest, most-inefficient processors around!

I'm surprised the 945G chipset won't take Core 2 Duo chips as this would turn this deal super hot (my media PC still uses a Core 2 with an nVidia GPU for HD decode). I imagine it's a proprietory motherboard so you can't remove what's in there now and fit another mATX one which is a shame.

You can pick up a regular Pentium D (Dual Core) for this for about £5.

The only limiting feature is the lack of EPS 12v 8-pin power lead on the power supply that modern motherboards use, you could maybe use an adapter but it won't be ideal. It's a shame the psu is non standard.

True, but the very latest Z77 boards are lower power consumption than their predecessors so have reverted to the P4 4-pin power lead rather than the EPS 8-pin

Old but in fairness other than USB 3.0 ports case technology hasn't really moved forward in that time! You could still use it to house a modern ivy bridge system.

just ordered it gonna use it as a wireless receiver around the house to pump stuff from my server first thing i going to do is spray the case all black then start the build from all the bits left over from previous builds if all goes well then only going to need a low profile wireless card so could be a bargain :D
