hollymiahollymia

Lidl have bike workstands available again from 5th July for the genuine bargain price of £29.99 especially since you also get a 3 year warranty.

We have one of these and it really is fantastic quality for the price. Makes working on your bikes so much easier.

They also have cycling gloves at £3.49 which I have found to be fine and a wireless computer for £7.99 again with 3yr warranty which is a genuine bargain.

Bought one of these last time they were on offer and they are an absolute bargain for the price, very sturdy and holds the bike securely while you work on it.....you can pay a lot more on other makes for a lot less quality. You have to be quick though as they only get a few delivered to each store and they go very fast!!

Just about to buy a new bike, so will be needing a few new bits as not getting rid of the old one. Tool kit, etc.

Anyone used the sealant spray? I assume its just a 'get you home' thing and ruins the inner tube?

Some of them are actually "self sealing" so plug the puncture and you can then add air. Depends what riding you will be doing and what valves you have cos if you have Presta then you have to remove the core.

I reccomend getting some decent puncture "resistant" tyres. Running Continental Sport Contacts on my commuter for 8 months and not one puncture.

The spray isn't great and certainly not for road bike tires at ~110psi. The Slime Scabs do the trick and it's a really small box to carry ... no need for chalk, waiting for the glue to set, etc.

Cheers, to be honest my Subway bike has thick tyres and never had a puncture in about a year, just wondering if it was a better option for emergencys than carrying around an inner tube and pump
    Outrunner
This is a good work stand, I use one at home, it makes it far easier to work on the bike.

The eight quid wireless cycle computer must be worth a mention.

Is it worth getting just to store the bike? Ofcourse, will use it for the occassional repair but will really be used as a storing device.

Anyone know where you can get a bicycle torque wrench, they are so expensive?

I thought so too; I got one from Aldi a few years back for £12.99 that seems very similar to this, but included a chest-attached heart monitor.

I did post it in the OP but by all means start another deal on it - probably more people will go for that as it's well, a bloody wireless bike comp with 3 year warranty for £8!

Hell - buy one for all your family and it will still only cost you the same as ONE Cateye wireless ; )

We don't use computers anymore what with much better apps such as Cyclemeter, Endomondo and Mapmyride which basically turns your Smartphone into a Garmin like device.

No. Something like this is better Bike wall mount But only if you have a solid wall.

We use a similar thing a Tusk Mammoth which is a bit more heavy duty and allows us to store a couple of bikes above each other in the garage freeing up much needed floor space.

You'd probably need 2 and some bungee cords if you wanted to attempt any repair work though.

Yep, I'd have to agree with the general consensus, this is a bargain. I bought one of these a couple years ago and it has more than paid for itself (looks like they've slightly upgraded this one). It's not perfect, but it does a great job overall.

Admittedly I've upgraded to something a lot beefier (Kestrel) because I got an ebay bargain, but if you don't own a workstand, these are a must have.

[EDIT] Actually looking at the clamp design, just be sensible. Ideally, you should only ever clamp to the seat post just in case you're a little overzealous with the clamp. It's much cheaper to replace a crushed seat post than a crushed top tube.

Definitely not - the stand once unfolded will take up more space than your bike.........

Got one last time but get there early - availability is variable and because they are quite big the stores tend not to get too many in....

Great, will look forward to getting one of these - handy for when you need to tune the gears up properly.

A warning though about the cheap track pumps Lidl sell - they are a real false economy. Bought one last year and it failed within 2 days. Lidl were good enough to replace it, but that one has failed within a few months. The clamp/valve bit is made of very weak plastic - hopeless. Just bought a "proper" lezyne one from wiggle, and it's amazing by comparison, will last for years.

I want this, does anyone know if you can use this for derailer adjustments? AKA can you turn the pedals?
