No Stock in London.Nearest available store in Gravesend.Shame :(

Loads of stock round Glasgow.

Voted hot.
#4
Harlow, Bishops Stortford, Hertford, Loughton and Enfield all out of stock !
#5
None anywhere near Bristol or WSM. Nearest stock is Newport, so that would cost me £5 or more on the toll bridge!

If your bike's insured under home contents or with a separate policy it's always a good idea to check whether the policy is only valid if an approved lock is used. For example Endsleigh specify 3 categories of lock, and if you have the highest cover (i.e. over £1000) then it needs to be one they classify as category C. Even in the lower categories the lock still has to be approved though.

The cheapest lock I could find in Endsleigh's category C is this one: http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_231153_langId_-1_categoryId_165637
(Though there's an ebay shop selling it for £19 delivered.)

Some words of help (or warning):

1. Halfords offering 33.3% discount on all bike lights until today if reserved or bought online.

2. My stepson ordered light set online to collect locally yesterday but was called and told store did not in fact have stock. Other local branches also out of stock when checked online and when phoned directly. But I happened to be passing another branch and saw at least 6 of the sets on the shelf, but didn't buy as I thought my stepson had got his original order. After I got home and he told me the tale, I phoned that branch and manager confirmed 'minus 2' stock on his computer but agreed he actually had them and would keep a set for collection Tuesday at the discounted web price. He admitted stock records poor and said stocktaking due today (Monday), presumably at all branches.

3. So, don't trust the online stock situation but phone a branch and insist stock is checked physically and item (if available) is reserved at whatever web price prevails.

Good price for this lock, but unfortunately not a very good lock and will be the first one a thief tries to break in a bike parking row.

But excellent value if you're using it as a second lock for your bike, or if your bike is worth less than 100 quid.

A novel to say Halfords' online stock system is unreliable!

Did they all live happily ever after?

Unlike you, I wouldn't bother to post a trite message like that, squire. My aim was not to bore you with a story but to explain an avoidable difficulty in sufficient detail to be helpful to others. Yes, the item was collected today at the discounted price, but it hadn't been put aside as promised.
