'By the way, if anyone here is in advertising or marketing, kill yourself. Kill yourselves, seriously. You're the ruiner of all things good. Seriously, no, this is not a joke. "There's gonna be a joke coming..." There's no ******* joke coming, you are Satan's spawn, filling the world with bile and garbage, you are ****** and you are ******* us, kill yourselves, it's the only way to save your ******* soul. Kill yourself, kill yourself, kill yourself now. Now, back to the show.' Bill Hicks could have been on all the chat shows. He could have had his own show on prime time. He could have got rich and fat and frightened. But Hicks didn't go the easy way (give or take the occasional dick joke). He turned down every offer Satan made him. Instead he figured out his best shot at the truth and then he said it. He attacked the lies that justified and prettified the carnage of the First Gulf War. He attacked the easy surrender of art to commerce, the demeaning cynicism of the marketing culture and the preposterous power of the mainstream media to confuse and corrupt.

Genius. Should be red hot.

Clever book this. 400 pages when 100 pages would do. Just how many times does Hicks have to repeat the 'One word: Dinosaurs' gag?

I'm one of Bill Hicks's biggest fans but I have to agree with this, what you are reading is Bill's routines in various venues and a great deal of it is the same routine, just performed at a different place. Now thats not to say a lot of the material here isn't genius but I think this book is really for die hard fans. If you are not familiar with Bills work then the Bill HIcks: Totally DVD is a much better starting point. it's on Amazon for £5.98:thumbsup:

Clever man. Great comedian. All the CDs (Cassettes when I bought them?!) and DVDs (VHS?!) are great. I would strongly recommend Rant in E-minor and Arizona Bay. Remember, life is just a ride. ;-)

Lovely book, & it is what it is, all big routines/gigs, reason for repetition of thoughts explained in description......
