What are these used for nowadays? Surely mobile phones are easier or am I (more than likely) missing the point.

I have a cheap pair in the glovebox for jobs in the middle of nowhere that have no signal mobile signal

Phone signals at festivals are always poor, these could really come in handy.

Families or friends traveling on the continent in 2 cars, outdoor events. Not everyone has a contract mobile. very handy :D

Used them before for this. They are fine as long as you aren't buried within a valley the other side of the mountain.

Seemed to work well when we had um as a friend was in different accomodation so we would set um on in morning and then arrange to meet etc.

Mobile phones however don't always work well up a mountain. :p
