Was searching for a copy myself to replay before Bioshock 2 comes out next month, this is the cheapest I could find it. Amazon also have it for the same price too.

Amazing game, easily one of the best FPS games I've played in the past couple of years. Hope this is of use to someone!

Worth every penny this game. Mine used to frame skip while playing this game, not sure if that was a sign to say my Xbox was on brink?

Can get it for £9.99 pretty much every highstreet preowned shop?

Thats like voting every single thing ever sold cold, because you can buy pretty much anything cheaper second hand.

In other words, thats a bit (a lot) of a stupid thing to say.

Truely great game, no multiplayer in any shape or form though so if thats your thing it will have limited/no appeal once you've cleared single player!

No not exactly. You buy a second han iPhone, or iPod Touch, it will be awful, scratched, the battery life will be poor as, screen will be smashed or cracked.

Preowned disc have to go through the shop so its playable.

Your argument is stupid.

I, Like many, Would much prefer a game that someone else has not used and abused, and that the game shops have not "spruced up" to look like its perfect. I've worked in a big game chain, I can tell you that their pre owned tactics are absoloutly dispicable.

Mathrin - Can I ask what pre-owned tatics big chains get up to? I ask as I tend to buy quite a few pre-owned games, so I'm now wondering what has happened to them before I bring them home.

Great game by the way, I've played this on the PC and I'm now thinking of getting it on the Xbox just to play it again.

There's quite a few dodgy tactics. If Game don't have a new copy of the game, but a box is on the shelf, they will sell you the game "as new" for the same price, but use a preowned copy which has been through some scratch doctor machine so that any scratches are hidden for a few days, just long enough that its too late to return it. If by chance one of these goes through without being used on the scratch machine, they add their security sticker on the box, and we were ordered that if anyone brings a game back, with that sticker broken or missing, they cannot get a refund/replacement, and are told its because the seal is broken, and the customer has scratched the disc.

Staff at the 3 or 4 stores around where I worked also sold games rented to employees as new, these are generally the ones which arn't sealed copies.

Also another big thing to consider, if the game was popular when it was released, and its a few months after release, chances are its been in multiple peoples possession. Again, before its sold, its run through the machines that supposedly "fix" scratches on a disc, so that it looks good to the customer, even if it is pretty haggard.

I've got to admit, since working there, Its put the cost of my game buying up a hell of a lot, purely because I can't bring myself to buy pre owned games any more, purely because of what I was made to do, to deceive customers.

If you notice, I actually stated this in my OP.

Grainger games you can get bioshock 10 pound brand new 8 pound pre-owned bargain.

Thing is though mathrin no game shop should put a security sticker on a pre-owned game.
The reason I buy pre-owned games is because simply its cheaper. As long as the game works there is no problem. And if there is a problem the shop where I buy from gives me the same cover as I would get from buying a new game. Thx for the deal anyway. It's a top game.

No, We didn't put them on pre-owned games, we put the security stickers on games sold as brand new products, but contained a pre-owned product when we had no proper new ones, for the reasons stated above. It was proper shady there.

If you notice, there are a number of games which although are new, are kept behind the counter in draws, in cardboard sleeves etc. These are the type of games we were told to put pre-owned copies in, if we had run out of legit new copies.

Rubbish.

I've sold phones second hand that have been LOOKED AFTER, kept in cases and/or protective screen covers that have no scratches etc. Batteries charged/discharged properly, provided with all the original box/packaging/bits etc. They are still second hand though and not worth as much as new despite the fact that they are as good as new.

Preowned discs at best go through a disc resurfacer, which basically thins out the suface of the disc to temporarily mask the scratches. This reduces the life of the disc even further and leaves it more susceptible to future scratches and scratches that cut through the dye etc. Just because it has 'been through a shop' is absolutely no guarantee of quality at all as already pointed out by others in this thread.

I have nothing against the second hand games market at all, on the contrary, it offers a good alternative for people to save a few pounds if they so choose.

But saying that something is a poor offer just because you can get it cheaper second hand is probably the single most retarded thing I have heard anybody say in quite a while.

Congratulations, you win the 2010 retards award.

Haha who's this tool?! ^ you get tool of the year award.

I just think buying a second hand car or anything mechanical is different to buying a second hand game that is purely a disc.
