Played this and it got a bit boring after a while.....

poor ps3 getting it so late
#9
Fab price for such a fantastic game.

Voted Hot.

However asking for someone that has played all three. As I have played none.

If someone could only afford one game which would they go for.

This, Tomb Raider, or Price Of Persia.

How would people rate the three in order. Is this the best of the three or the worst?
#11
This is one stupidass game. I bought it and got so frustrated always running out of ammo and ending up with a crowbar. Had to get rid of it. But good price.

I completed this on the 360, probably one of the better games I have played :), also its very long, plenty there for your £17.99
#14
I am sure I have seen this for £10 - £15 on the ps3. Its certainly only £10 on the 360 and is a much better version of the game. Cold for me as its been out a while and I have seen it cheaper before.

Post the cheaper then, its certainly not on this forum.

Its 10 on the xbox360. How is a better game because of the console, unique features?

The PS3 version suffers from a slower framerate than the Xbox 360 version. Shoddy coding by the developers, who just can't be bothered (or just don't know) to take advantage of the PS3's unique architecture (happens in a lot of cross platform titles unfortunately)

I have yet to see a decent reason apart from Little Big Planet for me to want to invest money in a PS3.

both suffer from the same framerate issues

One of my fav games of all time!!!

Got it on 360 when it fist came out, played it to death on all settings and got the max 1000pts in the achievements, so traded it in. A month ago decided to get it in the tin box again when it was £15 in Currys, bargin.

I was thinking of getting it on the PS3, but went back to the 360. I get most of my cross platform games on the PS3 now as its easier (and a lot quieter) I only got the PS3 for Blueray originally as well, but hey, nice to have both.

Ohh and for the record, getting the games on PS3 is for the reasons above, but the 360 has much better dedicated games and the controllers are better, but its just so noisy. IMHO of course
#21
Good price, hot!

I see that the everything is better on the xbox than on the ps3 is starting again, hell, is the blueray better on the xbox to?
Yes the xbox has more/better games, it has been around for longer so it should have.

Bluray?

I have just this minute finished watching Letters from Iwo Jima on Bluray and I must say it was really rather fantastic. The picture and sound quality was quite thrilling.

If you have an HDTV and surround sound then you should really consider a PS3 for movies and games.

Not to mention Home, mp3, the web, PSP integration, Play TV/PVR, etc...

It is a media center not a mere games console.

At 32 I would prefer the best media center on the market than the console with the most games.

Nah, I prefer a decent gaming experience and an adequate media experience that the Xbox gives and I have a more than adequate home cinema hook up, and as for Blu Ray....if the disks came down in price and took off maybe, but for now I will stick with my plethora of HD DVD classics at great prices and wait on the side lines to see what happens with the future or Blu Ray.......

Purely for gaming, nothing other than Little Big Planet has impressed me so far, and really thats what I buy a games console for (although its nice streaming divx and mp3s on my 360s)

Talk of poorly executed cross platform titles on the PS3 and the extra cost puts me off further.

Like the PSP I own that for the most part if it wasn't for homebrew gathers dust, I have yet to see anything other than Little Big Planet from Sony that warrants my attention.
#24
From the quotes above mentioning frame rate issues, the PC is the only version I've seen that doesn't have these issues, so slating the PS3 for it seems rather odd? Both console versions suffer from this! But it isn't the first game to struggle and it certainly won't be the last.

As for the gaming itself, it's just as good as it was on the other platforms, if you own a PS3, buy it, it's a great game and a bargain price.

If you own a 360 or a PC as well as a PS3, you've probably already got the game anyway!:santa:

Metal Gear Solid 4. I bought and sold a PS3 just to play that game.

Good Price. I rather use a mouse and keyboard mind. Great game even if it is a little too easy.

Still not enough to sway me to want to buy a PS3, still not impressed....chances are like with past Konami releases it will get released on the 360

And before anyone accuses me of being a fan boy, and anti Sony this ISNT the case, I am a gamer, I have owned every iteration of last generation consoles and various other Sony equipment. Bad ports and lack of exclusive games, high prices and Blu Rays uncertain future are all putting me off.

You really need to do a little investigation, the lack of exclusive titles doesnt hold any water, it may have done 12 months ago (the same can be said of the bad ports comment again 12 months ago but remember how old both consoles are) for instance the VGA Awards Game of the year category contained more PS3 exclusives than any other console. Indeed a lot of the so called 360 exclusives are available on PC.
And as for MGS4 on the 360, well that story you posted was months old but there has been no confirmation at all, the internet is rife with rumours and i could maybe point to stories that Mass Effect 2 and Gear 3 are coming to the PS3, and lets not forget Bioshock 2 which will be multi platform.

And i do love the way people close posts with "and before anyone calls me a fanboy" it reminds me of how some people say "i'm not a racist, i've got a black friend" after a racist rant

Not really, as soon as you criticise Sony and the lack of games, everyone jumps on and calls you a "fanboy"..I have owned a PS1, PS2 and PSP, and own a Sony Ericsson Phone, a Sony AV receiver a Sony DSLR and Sony Compact Camera.

The story I posted was two months old, thats T-W-O I dont class that as "months old" yes its plural but only just, and although there has been no further news, how long did it take for news to appear that Bioshock was finally appearing on a the PS3.......I do a lot of research as a gamer, and own all iterations of consoles other than the PS3.

Lack of decent games STILL puts me off, along with Blu Ray not taking off in the way Sony pump money into it..so the lack of exclusives does hold water to me. No point me having a 360 AND a PS3 if games that are available for BOTH consoles in general are not as good on the PS3

One point I do find valid you mention is that there are several Xbox 360 games of which are available also on PC.

The PS3 is failing as a high priced console in comparison to the 360, Microsofts strategy of having Netflix in the US and hopefully a similar service in the UK for downloading High Definition movies as well as the ability to store games on the Hard Disk is proving to be a more that worthy adversary for Blu Ray.

Wasn't impressed with Unchartered, so Unchartered 2 I am not sure of, Killzone 2 needs to be far better than its predecessor...don't need GT5 when there is already Forza 2 and when not into serious racing the brilliant PG3 and 4 on the 360. That as far as I am concerned leaves God Of War 3 and Heavy Rain.

Whilst Gears of War 3 will most likely be released for the PS3, the others in the franchise probably wont seeing that Microsoft held Epic to a two game deal, although Epic do own intellectual property of the titles.

Most games touted for 2009 are cross platform, with existing shoddy ports, it will be an interesting time to see if ports for the PS3 improve..with a lack of exclusives, a better online experience and a console half the price in the Xbox 360 which not only has an extensive backlog of games, but a decent forseeable future with a redesigned Xbox Live experience....this generation of consoles, what is there in the PS3 to sway me away from the Wii and 360?

Thats intellectual thinking, not racism or fanboyism.....

Its very unlikely GOW 3 will be released on the ps3. If it is it will certainly be a timed release after the 360 and p.c. Really shooters are 360 territory and ms have basically funded this IP for epic.

Its all down to software and the fact that all the third party titles look and play better on the 360, bioshock being the perfect example. The are developed for the pc / 360 as this is by far the biggest user base and then ported to the ps3. Why would you want to play an inferior version of the game. Add in the console costs 3 times as much (yes it does matter and most people dont want br, wifi etc) 360 is outselling the ps3 2 -1 one worlwide and its been out over 3 years now !

Its easy to see why. Just a shame people cant look at the facts realistically.

Gears 3 could well appear on the PS3 as a simultaneous release - as explained above the 2 game deal microsoft had with epic has now expired. but i was using that as a case for internet gossip.
Bioshock, well yes that was developed on the 360 and ported over, but to call the PS3 version inferior is nonsence, especially as it has the exclusive DLC, indeed they even chose to announce Bioshock 2 via teaser trailer on the PS3.

As for most people not wanting blu-ray...

Ron Sanders, president of Warner Home Video, commented: "In the first two days across those three territories, Blu-Ray disc sales are running between 25 per cent and 30 per cent of total sales, which is a massive number. We had expected Blu-Ray to account for a significant percentage of sales, but not quite this high, which speaks well for the format. It's really catching on with consumers."

Temporary surge due to xmas titles such as The Dark Knight, thats where your quote is taken from in relation to that title only..this Apple Mac article is interesting......

Seems like Microsoft have the business strategy sorted after losing out with HD DVD, downloads from rental places really could damage its potential future.

The first three words of that article: "Tech analysts predict"
Also interesting that you post that article saying christmas sales will struggle then talk about how the boost has come from christmas sales??
As for downloads you cant compare the quality of HD downloads to that of an actual blu-ray the difference in quality is massive. In fact Microsofts HD output isnt even up to the same level as Sky HD broadcasts.
#35
God fanboys when will you learn, just play the console you bought and be happy. Jesus they will both be good this generation, lets just leave it at that. Also there have been some poor ps3 ports, but I don't think bioshock suffers from significant problems. Developers are starting to design games on the ps3 anyway, as its easier to port to the 360.

If you would have cared to READ the article, it mentions the recession affects the sales of Blu Ray players, not Blu Ray titles from which there has been a surge in buyers that have Blu Ray from buying Dark Knight, being a popular movie title for christmas.

People are either sticking with DVD or happy to download HD titles instead, I really like HD DVD, mainly because of the quality and low prices with the fire sales.

I must admit, I am in favour of a HD Format, I like disks, the industry doesnt though, hence why in the future the industry would like to see games downloaded instead of shop bought (this mainly because of their hatred of the loss of extra revenue royalties from second hand sales) There lies the future problem, if Blu Ray goes the same way as HD DVD we will be left with inferior downloadable content, with not as good picture or sound.

But like it or not, Blu Ray is far from successful, and high priced.......

So this generation of console, as argued I do not see an advantages currently or with in the near future of buying a PS3, framerate issues on Bioshock are WORSE on the PS3 than the 360, graphics are better on more titles on the 360, so far apart from Little Big Planet I am unimpressed with the PS3 exclusives, the price of the PS3, the online experience, and Blu Ray has an uncertain future...

Like my PSP, good hardware, shoddy software.....

UMD movies....a failure...
SACD, technically brilliant, sadly limited choice and a commercial failure......
Blu Ray...next casualty for Sony.....likely....

Oh cmon and you say your not a fanboy. The ps3 has plenty of good software coming out in 2009, and most good games are multiplatform. I don't see why your going out your way to fault the thing, you have a 360, just play it and be happy with your purchase. There are plenty of faults with each console, I could point out several on the 360 but there's little point. There must be something wrong if you have to validate it by going on a rant about a different console.

Try reading back through the thread, I was initially repyling to B0rker when I stated that besides Little Big Planet I have seen little else to impress me to want to buy a PS3, and reading this thread mentioning the frame rate issue being worse than the 360 doesn't make me want to further, and he replied about Blu Ray.

I wasnt ranting about a different console, I was ranting about the PS3.

Then I was accused of being a fan boy for further justifying, as you say most good games are multiplatform, and as previously mentioned are generally shoddy ports on the PS3.

I will state again I am a GAMER, I own many platforms, including the Wii...which I can criticise for lack of true games, I feel the same way about the PS3, lack of decent exclusives, overpriced, and don't as yet feel the need for Blu-ray (Being a home cinema enthusiast I prefer owning something seperate than a console for that sort of thing)

I have faults with the 360, games not being one of them. Dreadful indian call centre support. shoddy hardware design and high prices for Live points...but currently in my experience it has the best exclusives, better ports, is far cheaper and has fantastic online play and is greatly enhanced with hard disk installed games.

I am looking for a decent reason to want to own a PS3 as well as a 360, but have not seen any justification for wanting one.

I never said it wasn't a bad price, and voted hot accordingly, shame about the bad framerate issue though, otherwise an excellent game.

And I can see me holding off until at least 2010 on a PS3....if at all.
