A relatively convoluted process to get this pre-order price. Firstly, you'll need Virgin's £5 off at Game.co.uk voucher. I'll reproduce the info on how to get that here, for easiness' sake. Go here:

http://virginmobile.crave-exclusives.co.uk/bdr-emp2/virgin/details.xhtml?offerId=12

Follow the link, complete the details with fake information (or real if you want). An email address is not needed so you can make that up as well. On the next page it will tell you that you need to register. Click Register, then go back a page and refresh. You'll see a code on that page now. That'll entitle you to £5 off any purchase over £30 at Game.

Now go to Game (via Quidco if you want the extra 11% discount). Add BioShock to your basket (£29.99) and search for gift wrap and add that as well (99p). That'll take the total order over £30. Enter the code you got at the Virgin website, taking it down to £25.98. Purchase.

Now find your order screen and you should notice the £5 has been taken fully off the BioShock order and it reads as having been pre-ordered for £24.99. Cancel the gift wrap order immediately (you have a wee while before they debit the 99p), or keep it if you really want/need it.

Hey presto. BioShock for £24.99, or £22.41 with Quidco.

Thanks, pre ordered !

Release Date: 24/10/2008 for all those wondering, hot deal!
#3
Great game ....but its a year old on xbox/pc, they should release it for around 20£ imo,a year for a port isn't worth more than that.
#4
It has additional features that those two platforms don't. The definitive version and even has reasons for original owners to repurchase according to the publishers.
#5
They will call it the definitive version for marketing and sales reasons...but i doubt there will be anything except maybe an extra plasmid/big daddy at most. Graphically it wont be as good as the pc and doubtfully as good as the xbox version, the ps3 never is especailly with ports.

Great game all the same...i just dont justify the price for a year old :)

You don't fool me. :)

tis a great game and should be played by people irespective of games consoles
#9
£25 for a brand new PS3 with such high pedigree is a great price, and I think more than makes up for the fact its come out later than the 360 version.

Hot!!

lol at your intelligence.
#11
Would you kindly buy this game.
#12
voted hot from me too when you take into consideration 11% quidco and reward points worth £1.53
#13
actually, just to point out that Game pay quidco on the price excluding VAT now, so the price may be a bit more than stated here :)

great game though, even if it will be a year old when it's released.
#14
Great game worth getting for those that havent played it and only have a ps3 I suppose. However I completed it a year ago and MS have dropped the retail price on the 360 version to £9.99.

I have both consoles I know what I would be buying if I was buying it now....

Sadly you don't fool anyone either as you are constantly on the 360 hardware deals with negative comments, though thankfully lately fanboys on both consoles seem to have grown up a bit and been a lot quieter lately.

Any way back to this deal, you are only kidding yourself if you are trying to tell 360 and PC owners who have purchased this game for between £9 and £12 to buy it again for what little extra there is.(It could easy be offered as downloadable content for around £1-£3 on either system , (which it will probably end up being anyway).

If you have a PC that is capable of running this game or a 360 then it would be stupidity to buy it again at this price especially as Bioshock 2 is not that far away on those Two consoles.

If you have no PC and no 360 then this game is 100% recommend especially good deal posted here ..........
#17
why do we always seem to wonder off track - its not about which system is best - its about the deal bioshock on ps3 for £24.99 (22.41 with quidco) which as far as i am concerned is a HOT deal

Shock! The people who wouldn't let you install your game more than twice think you should go out and buy it again? Hold the front page!

Christopher Hartmann president of 2K games have recently stated:

“Over the coming months we look forward to revealing the new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms.”

EGM also reported that Sony and Bioshock are working on extending and augmenting the game as well.
According to what Hartmann is saying, this addition of content has to be huge enough to entice Xbox 360 owners to justify another purchase of Bioshock for the PS3. Which means it probably won’t be just a few additional measly Plasmids.
The exclusive content have been speculated as a huge addition of levels to the PS3 version of the game, as well as additional plasmids and weapons. There is also speculation Bioshock will have extensive PSN Home integration as well.

Got it for my birthday for 360 got bored of it quickly dont see why people rate it so highly, not my kind of game hope this version is better structured
#21
I really wanted this game on PC, but didnt want the Securom services messing up my computer with its root kit style behaviour, so PS3 is a good alternative option :)

Great story
Great graphics
great gameplay

If you dont care for those things you wont like this game.
#23
No one who played it on xbox/Pc would buy it for ps3 at the rrp of a brand new release. Pc version has maps and player mods that are free and better than most dlc quality, a few plasmids are all i'd expect for this version tbh....it is all speculation after all and a port just to fill their wallets.

And yes i guess i'm biased, i'm not exactly gonna bash one of last years greatest games, only its price tag.....tho i ain't played my xbox in over a month, i'm more of a pc gamer/fanboi or Age of Conan addict.

£20 less is a decent price I think, regardless of age; would you kindly just leave it a bit? I think it's hot, you don't, there you go. :)

The 360's best console exclusive is now on the PS3 - happy days :)

Zavvi had it at this price recently I seem to remember there were posts on this forum to this effect. £12.99 currently and £11.99 at game station anyway I think been loads of cheap deals on this recently for the 360 and p.c.

Price drops mean its almost certainly going onto the "classics" label this Autumn.....

Anyone who wants to pay £25+ for a port of game thats been out for 12 months you can get for around £10 on the pc / 360 fair play I say. I wont be buying it again at twice the price for a few extra character models and plasmids  I completed it ages ago anyway.....

Of course it is 12 months on and it was a third party anyway and never an exclusive. Gears of War, Mass Effect, Too Human, FOrza etc etc etc.....

But 9.99 isnt the rrp.
#34
Does it matter if you can buy it at that price. RRP on most ps3 / 360 games is £49.99. But only an idiot would actually pay that...
#35
Cheers OP - just ordered
#36
That you for this post. This is one of the few games that were 360 only, and that I missed when I got my PS3. I didn't think it was coming at all - so that you for letting me know!
#37
Rumour has it the extra content could be an additional level that had previously been pulled during development. Whether it's worth an extra £10-15 over the 360 or PC version (which, incidentally, can now be installed as many times as you like) remains to be seen though.

In any case, I don't think there's much that could be done to improve the game without giving it a significant overhaul; the storyline kind of runs out of steam partway through (shortly after that cutscene) and the last two levels... ugh.

As it stands, though, it's a work of flawed genius and deserves to be played whether it's £9.99 or £29.99.

Does it still have the Securom root kit style thing thats really hard to remove after you uninstall the PC version? Not sure I want services slowing down my PC really, so might go for the PS3 version instead.
#39
I found this game to be hugely over hyped. Not a patch on the half life series. In fact,I never finished it,due to the boredom threshold being reached.Try the demo, then discard.
