Birchwood Farm is a Lidl BRAND name and NOT the real name of a farm here in the UK.

So what you trying to say? That the hundreds of LIDL stores don't get all their millions of chickens and beef a year from one picturesqe farm in Birchwood.Well done sherlock.

The Deluxe mince is very good.

Check out Morrisons for their butcher counter steak mince. On offer at £3.92 per kilo from £8 at the moment. Very decent and comparable to 'proper' butchers mince IMHO.

Pork Lion steaks at only £1.79? BARGAIN!!! ;)

20% fat is pretty high, go for more expensive 10% fat meat and the results are much better

It has come up in previous threads before as some have thought it was a really brand when it is one of lidl's many fake own brand products.

Unless you are BBQ'ing then accept nothing but 20% fat.

I've always wondered how they are able to offer steak mince at less than £4 while the actual steak is more than double the price.
(For example diced chicken breast is always more expensive than whole chicken breasts)
Is the steak mince made from the bits that they cut off from the steak?

That's pretty much nonsense. 20% fat in a minced beef is absolutely ideal for burgers if you want them moist and juicy. However, I wouldn't use this particular minced beef from Lidl. At £2.50 a kilo, God alone knows what's in it.

Just like Tesco with their fruit, veg and meat, Marks and Spencer with Oakham chicken. They all do it.

2kg for a fiver, guess I'm in for a penny in for 5 pound, cheers op.

20% fat is standard for Mince unless you buy lower fat varieties. Having bought mince from Sainsburys/Asda/Tesco I can confirm that the Lidl mince is of a better quality and more flavoursome for a better price.

I had images of a beautiful birch wood with a little farm nestled in the middle and a mountain stream bringing organic water to the little animals who all had happy faces. Then I remembered it was lidl and I thought of a rundown warehouse in Slough with bloody chicken heads scattered on the floor....

You take far too much pride in that joke.
