Does this have to have a cable dragging from the bird box into the house?
#11
Thanks for this. Even though it's basically just a webcam, it's nice that it's packaged up as a birdwatching camera and will be a perfect xmas pressie for my Dad.

Voted hot.:thumbsup:Cheers!

Yeah, I've just been talking to dh on the phone about it. You can get decent wireless cameras which would do this sort of thing, but the cheapest I've seen those is around 50 quid.
#14
This looks interesting!

We've got bats around us - I've just seen this bat box:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wildlife-World-Bat-Box/dp/B000QGHG2S/ref=pd_sim_lp_4

Probably a stupid question, but am I right in assuming this camera would be ok to put in there? The LED won't harm the bats, or they won't attack it or anything?

Another stupid question - would it be possible to plug this into the kids mini DVD player? Would be better than trailing cables all through the house - could leave it in the utlity room.

Sounds like it does. You could always run it through an open window when you wanted to spy on the birdies, and unplug it and roll it up when you don't. The cable is 30 metres so pretty long.
#16
Great spot - ordered for my Dad for Christmas.
#17
Thanks for the info about the cables, I have actually cancelled my order for 2 of them now!
#18
You can get a wireless colour one for £18 delivered.

I got one the other week and its great, just need a wire for the power or it will run off a 9v battery.

Cheers - Another dad sorted. (why are old dads hard to sort)

But if its black and white its 'artistic' ;)
#23
are there any reviews for this camera? or any sample pictures?

i would have thought a £9.99 video camera (including accessories) will produce very poor images..... :?

Wireless ones hidden in a shampoo bottle are much more effective. You'll save a fortune as well as you wont be able do spend much money whilst you are serving 10 years at Her Majesty's Pleasure! :whistling:

The camera was £29.99 but its in the sale, so it may give a decent enough pic.

You won't see a thing unless the camera is infra-red.

Thank you for extra info....good find then??

This won't be top resolution for £30 but it will be better than a cheap colour or wireless alternative especially in low light and for £10? HOT!

These are not bad i have used these before as i breed African grey parrots so use them to watch for when we have eggs and chicks, they are pretty basic but fine for a garden bird nest, i have moved on to the 12 led one's which are full colour and sound in the day and black and white at night when they run on infa red.

Here is a photo of one of my pairs of greys in the nest with chicks using a nest box camera

I missed it too, but this one looks quite good. It's more money, but wireless and colour.
