Bissell have jumped on the made cheap in China boat like all the others now. These are made in the same factory as the Morphys, Russell Hobbs, Vax, Dirt Devils, etc.

They use to use the same vacuums factory as Samsung did in China but they have sourced these from the same factory as everyone else now...oh dear..

Had these offered to me to sell in me shop and turned them down flat. Wohfully poor vacuum's. No particular saving same as a Argos Value vacuum tbh.

He does say 'they used to'..Personally, av had a bagless Hitachi for the past 6 years from Argos, which is still going strong. At the time I bought it, I was looking for a cheap but powerful one.
Bought a Tesco value one for approx £17 for someone else 3yrs ago-still being used.
Going back to the Bissel, I have seen a display one in Asda and it was no better or worse than my Hitachi. Btw, its 1400w - it didn't say this anywhere on the box, but it does mention it on the label under the vacuum.

serious? for £19 for someone who's not in the trade? What else would you recommend for the price?

Not having a go just seriously asking as I'm at the end of my tether with my Vax Power 2 which is *****.

So exactly what is so " poor " about them?

Where exactly did you expect it to be made? Germany? Sweden? oh even here in Blighty perhaps? No, everything is made in china and for £20 you cant complain. I just bought the Bissell upright cyclonic vacuum from asda the other week and im very happy with it. Nice and light, just as powerful as a dyson, robust and no stupid bells and whistles. And it has a nice long cable all for £50. Honestly, if you want a vac that isnt china made your gonna be hard pressed and would have to fork out for one of those fancy old skool zip up bagged things that they use in hotels, or some industrial grade german built thing costing £££s. Get real.

    LOL

Nothing wrong at all with the bissell uprights & washers these are made in the 'better' quality chinese factories.

This cylinder is made in 'budget' quality chinese factory. No one should expect a great vacuum for this price or even upto £50 tbh. These dont have good Air Watts suction, having a more powerful motor just means your using more electric, If you go above a 1200w on a cylinger this size then you know that its pickup isnt very effective.

These get HOT the one that was tested at my shop actually cut out. Forget about any spares for these as these are throw aways unlike the other Bissell's.

The hitachi vacuum is just a badged machine, they pulled out of the vacuum market good 5 years ago, and the brand name is for hire basically.

The Bissell Liftoff isnt particularly a good vacuum tbh build quality fine but performance isnt very good, went to the launch and it broke down LOL

What a lot of people cant asses with vacuums if their performance pick it up in a shop and go home and try it picks up all the crumbs and carpet looks clean but deep down it hasnt cut the surface of what it should be cleaning, carpets and the floor.

I lot of these new cheapies get away with it because people use them on non carpet floors.

Performance has been fine with mine. Nothing has gone wrong with it at all. Brand new cars, tv's etc break down/go wrong on day one but that doesn't make the whole brand/model no good though.

So what's the best then in your opinion for the average household with an average budget?

    Out of stock now.
    Kankan101
Well in the UK we have lost the focus on vacuums because we are addicted to laminated flooring so vacuum sales and particularly vacuum quality has dropped since a lot of design and production is done there, seriously NON of the big brands design there own vacuums including Hoover & Electrolux, they get the chinese to do it.

If you want me to say what to go for is the german models, because they make and design there own so it would have to be a Bosch/Miele/Sebo, anything sub £100 isnt worth it, you could get a Bog Standard Miele for £100, Bosach for about £80 and Sebo cheapest at about £130. These vacuums will last forever, never let you down.

NEVER buy a Dyson, full of unatainable promises and sold to us by saturation of marketing, oh and now considerable poorer in qualitfy now they are made in Malaysia.
    joshtbh
where can you get a Miele for £100?
