RRP's mean nothing really so I'm not sure why everyone mentions them, It's only a recommended price and virtually no retailer sells it at the RRP unless it's a very popular item.

RRP would be correct, it is £44.95 if you want to buy it direct from bitdefender.co.uk

Cheaper than Amazon...

This is the premier product from bitdefender as shown here: feature list

Remember to factor that in when comparing other AV products.

2 star rating by AV comparatives.

Out of a 3 star system... Besides, with enough googling you can find the review result you are looking for...

All I know is I work with most major flavours of A/V that our precious snowflakes install to their PCs. Norton, macafee, kaspersky, panda, avg et al are all resource hogs.

IMO Bitdefender & NOD32 are the 2 most lightweight & effective paid for AV clients I have seen in real world SO/HO use.

At least with NOD32/Bitdefender you can invoke a game/laptop mode that will reduce AV activity while you game / are on the move. During any other net activity you would want to be protected anyway.

Also, I can verify Bitdefender/NOD32 plays nice on Win 7 x64 builds, also both are happily protecting separate bitch boxes with low system resource.

As ever though, (especially when installing AV reactively on a potentially infected system), your mileage may vary.

You are absolutely right. Both of these are good rated and light weight AV.

Choosing a security solution is a minefield, as a 2010 can be better or worse than a 2009 product, reviews differ from site to site and for most people it is just too confusing.
The best advice is be sensible and at least use something...I use the new microsoft essentials, backed up by Malwarebytes on windows 7 with a firewall on my router and the win7 firewall (tried some third party and they were awful)
I have run vista with Norton 2010 and it was as good as gold, however, when I upgraded I felt as a sensible surfer no need for an expensive suite....regular back ups are also essential.
Thats my ha'penny worth anyway.
Heat added good value for a well regarded suite.

Just downloaded the Bitdefender 30 day trial, did a full virus check but gave up after 12 hours and still scanning, having found nothing.

I have it running on my Windows 7 PC and its excellent, could do with another key though for my laptop.
